Athletic article about CUSA’s 2021 realignment and rebound in 2023

This summary was offered by a wku fan on cusa board:

Tidbits from story you may or may not know:

--WKU would have said "Yes" to the MAC--even without MT--invite never came (Todd Stewart)

-- FAU, Charlotte were last second, almost didn't happen-- adds by the AAC (Could easily still be in CUSA)

-- Liberty offered only AFTER Falwell, Jr. was gone and CUSA "desperate"

-- Liberty social media credited with "sticking up" for CUSA online

-- Massaro credits Liberty with raising bar for conference facilities

-- Massaro says UAB one of [few] schools that was open and honest

-- FAU NCAA credits will bring 10 million additional dollars over six years

-- UMASS "top target"

--Monies received by MT helped buyout of Stockstill

-- And lots and lots of other details

Oh the irony.

Liberty, Falwell, desperate

Also

Liberty raising facilities bar

Falwell jr was controversial. However a cursory search shows a lot of prominent university presidents equally as odd, controversial, and bizarre. Liberty just had a target in its back for who they are.

I am a Liberty grad and Falwell Jr was a nightmare for the university. He did a lot of good from a growth standpoint but he could not stay out of controversy. Getting rid of him was the best thing to happen there in a long time.
