Trump Will Raise Money if He Wins Nomination: CNN

Donald Trump — in a reversal for his race for the presidential nomination — will raise money to compete against a Democrat in the general election if he is the Republican nominee.
"He's spent no money on his campaign so far," a source told CNN on Thursday. "That won't happen in a general election."
Trump and campaign staffers have told potential donors and others that he would begin raising money for the general election as soon as he secures the nomination, the source said.
The campaign's message would be "basically, we're going to be a traditional party candidate," as far as fund-raising is concerned, the individual told CNN.
Trump has proudly boasted that he is financing his nomination effort primarily through his own personal wealth. He has said throughout the campaign that this prevents him from being responsible to special interests — unlike his current rivals Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.
He has accepted small contributions from individual donors.
Trump's campaign had spent about $24 million through the end of January, CNN reports. The developer has loaned about $17.5 million to his effort since he began running last June.
His campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment, CNN reports.
