By the time that DT got to Brent, he would have already thrown it or he'd be running. That's the difference. We'll spread em out more than UNT did.

excerpt:

...The Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners will travel to Floyd Stadium to take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

The Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners improved to 4-4 (3-2 C-USA) on the season after defeating the North Texas Mean Green, 31-17, this past Saturday. Texas-San Antonio jumped out to an early 14-0 lead at halftime and put the game away in the 4th quarter with a Jalen Rhodes 19-yd TD run with 9:51 left to play. The Roadrunners were outgained by the Mean Green by a 409-318 margin however, did win the turnover battle by a 4-0 margin. Leading the way for Texas-San Antonio was RB Jalen Rhodes who had 2 TD and 74 rushing yards on 9 carries. On the season, Texas-San Antonio is averaging 29.5 ppg on 382.1 total yards per game (219.3 passing, 162.9 rushing). Offensively, the Roadrunners have been led by QB Dalton Sturm who has completed 60.9% of his passes for 15 TD and 4 INT while averaging 192.5 passing yds/game. The Road runners have a solid rushing attack led by Jalen Rhodes (12.8 att/g, 74.9 yds/g, 7 TD) and Jarveon Williams (14.0 att/g, 58.9 yds/g, 3 TD). Josh Stewart (2.4 rec/g, 55.0 yds/g, 3 TD), Kerry Thomas Jr (2.4 rec/g, 36.1 yds/g, 6 TD), and Brady Jones (2.0 rec/g, 25.8 yds/g, 2 TD) are the leading receivers for the Roadrunners. Defensively, Texas-San Antonio is allowing their opponents to average 26.9 ppg on 411.3 total yards per game (234.8 passing, 176.5 rushing). Texas-San Antonio has forced 13 turnovers on the season and has an overall turnover margin of +4.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders won their 2nd straight game and improved to 6-2 (3-1 C-USA) on the season after defeating the FIU Golden Panthers, 42-35, this past Saturday. In a back and forth game, Middle Tennessee was able to pull out the victory after a D.J. Sanders pick-six with just 1:22 remaining in the game. Middle Tennessee was outgained by FIU by a 517-466 margin however, did win the turnover battle by a 3-0 margin. Leading the way for the Blue Raiders was QB Brent Stockstill who completed 19 of 32 passes for 296 yards and 4 TD. On the season, Middle Tennessee is averaging 40.5 ppg on 538.5 total yards per game (347.1 passing, 191.4 rushing). Offensively, Middle Tennessee has been led by QB Brent Stockstill who has completed 63.3% of his passes for 26 TD and 5 INT while averaging 333.4 passing yds/game. Stockstill’s main targets in the passing game have been Richie James (8.5 rec/g, 129.0 yds/g, 8 TD), Ty Lee (4.8 rec/g, 53.1 yds/g, 6 TD), I’Tavius Mathers (4.8 rec/g, 47.9 yds/g, 3 TD), Dennis Andrews (2.5 rec/g, 35.9 yds/g, 5 TD), and Patrick Smith (3.0 rec/g, 35.3 yds/g, 2 TD). The Blue Raiders rushing attack has been led by I’Tavius Mathers who has 12 rushing TD’s on the season and is averaging 136.0 rushing yds/game. Defensively, Middle Tennessee is allowing their opponents to average 29.9 ppg on 440.0 total yards per game (260.3 passing, 179.8 rushing). Middle Tennessee has committed just 8 turnovers on the season and has an overall turnover margin of +5.

The Roadrunners are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record however, 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Blue Raiders are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in November and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Texas-San Antonio has already been able to surpass their 2015 win total however, the Roadrunners have struggled a bit on the road this season as coming into this matchup with just a 1-2 record with their victory being a 14-13 win over the 1-7 Rice Owls. Middle Tennessee has one of the most explosive offenses in the country and has two outstanding playmakers in QB Brent Stockstill and RB I’Tavius Mathers.....

This will be a tough game.

MT 42 - UTSA 39. Will be close.

I think its only close if we turn the ball over. No one has slowed us down at Floyd except ourselves. The weather looks good for Saturday. I think we will get UTSA best shot just like we got FIU's best shot - they want to get to 6-7 wins and make a bowl game, they have a lot to play for.

UTSA plays much better at home than on the road. Arizona St., USM and UNT were there best performances. Even the loss to UTEP in 5 OT's was at home.

On the road, their production goes down a ton. They beat Rice on the road by 1 point and only scored 14 points on one of the worst teams in college football. However, they destroyed USM and UNT and had they beaten UTEP, they'd be playing for a bowl spot this week. They are formidable with everything to play for. If we are sloppy, we will possibly lose this game. They are the toughest opponent left on the schedule.

UTSA reminds me a ton of MTSU 10 years ago. They play up to their level of competition but continually disappoint.

They are a much better home team than they are a road team as another poster pointed out. They are 4-4 overall so they do know how to win games and they're playing for bowl eligibility still so I'm not expecting them to lay down.

Look for something along the lines of:

MT 38
UTSA 29

Classic middle right there. Turn the ball over 4 times and lose a game that you're favored in by double digits that would have made the season a fairly good one.

Now this is literally nothing but a run-of-the-mill season which is what most of us have been calling it all along. Sometimes it sucks to be right.

JDB, that was funny.

Here's another weird one for the Saturday fall apart watch list. Charlotte is beating USM 38-14 with 3:00 left in the third. Holy crap.

We better win some more games or we'll be out of a bowl spot.

This game presented an opportunity for the team to really show what they were made of. And they didn't answer the bell.

Yeah, losing your QB sucks, and I honestly was somewhat impressed with the way Urzua was able to shake off the turnovers and battle, but this game was a shellacking from start to finish - on both sides of the ball.

Hard to defend anything that was displayed on the field today.

Give UTSA credit - they're a good team. Not usually a good road team, but a good team nonetheless. Looks like they're playing for the CUSA West crown next week. MT, well, MT has nothing of merit in front of them until bowl season.

If you can't even be competitive with a 4-4 UTSA team that you're favored by 19 points over, do you really have any business in a bowl game? No, you don't. Our team turned out to be nothing but a bunch of posers.

But with the way they hand out bowl opportunities these days (every kid has to get a trophy right?) I'm sure we'll be playing in the McMinnville Fish Taco Bowl or some $hit.

The entire defensive staff has got to go.

Defense has gotten worse as the year goes on, how does that even happen?! LOL

I'm so sick of the effort from our defense and the coaches. I just can't believe we let them take us to the wood shed and whip our @$$es like that. Man this pisses me off!!!

Been out of the loop a few weeks - where was Brent Stockstill???

Took a big hit in second quarter and didn't come back. Probably out rest of the season, it appears from CRS's comments (right shoulder area injury).
