Since we brought on one former Vandy coach why not make it two.
Formerly terminated Vandy basketball coach is killing it in what I believe is just his 2nd year at Grand Canyon University. 11-1 so far with impressive victory over last year's NCAA finalist San Diego St. And an also impressive road victory over CUSA's best team Liberty.
Would be ironic to have 2 former Vandy rejects having success in the 'Boro

A few quick Monday morning notes re: new staff, portal, and recruiting

1) It imperative that MT get the new HC (and hopefully a handful of assts) in place this week. The transfer portal opened this morning so hundreds (maybe thousands) of players just became "free agents."
2) MT lost 16-18 scholarship players to the portal. Assuming none of them come back, the new coach will be able to sign around 40 players. That's flipping half the roster in just a year.

Sun Belt got rocked this bowl season. I think CUSA has a lot of potential with recent adds and not so sure if going back would be a good move.

I really would like to see this guy get a look for OC. Currently at Northwestern but due to coaching change there, will be available after tonights bowl game.

To get an idea about NKU they will be playing a common opponent tonight when they take on Tennessee Tech in Cookeville before coming to Murfreesboro Wednesday. Tonight's game will be on ESPN+ for those interested.

There has been chatter about him being a PWO. He cleared the air

“Not necessarily. Starting after spring I’m on full scholarship. They have me listed as a “pwo” for the early enrollment process so I can get in January 16th and work early. They couldn’t offer me 4 1/2 years obviously so me and another player are splitting an offer 60/40 up until spring ball hits. We both are on full ride though once spring is over and the scholarships renew.”

2024 Schedule released. Honestly, a pretty terrible schedule. Definitely not trying to get fans by playing interesting non-conference games. Got one game at Vandy, at Bama and at Indiana. No Memphis or Tennessee. No interesting weekend series, no money series of note. For the athletic department folks that read: do better.

Anyone hear how we are looking in the fall? I saw nothing about the scrimmages - maybe missed it if we did post something. Going on 8 years since we won 30+ in a season & 15 since we made the NCAA. I really miss Coach Pete.
