I have it on good authority that the reason why Franklin resigned from his post at Cal to come back to MT is most definitely family related. Tony's parents still live in Kentucky, and evidently they are not doing too well these days. Tony has been looking for an excuse to get back closer to home. Sounds like he's been making weekly trips back home for years now just to be close to his folks.
Add to that, Tony is closing in on 60. This may be his swan song. Come in, get a guy like Brent Stockstill to perform at the highest level, and retire off into the sunset.
