FOOTBALL Middle Tennessee at Memphis Game Thread

I’m sick of this vanilla offense with the weapons we have. We keep trying to establish a run game & I get it but this team needs to throw to get something going.
If the one downfield play was any indication, the chance is there. It looked like Omari was on a safety at least in the backhalf of that play, so maybe get him in the slot and try to work a matchup. Need big plays and no turnovers to get the mojo going, I agree

4-YARD TOUCHDOWN

Mario Anderson has a wide open running lane and scores for Memphis.

Middle Tennessee: 0
Memphis: 14

Wanna get the word to coaching staff! Our offense is a great passing team. Our biggest highlights are mostly pass game.

Terry Wilkins gains seven and places MTSY with 2nd and 3 at the Memphis 44.

Wilkins went down for a solid amount of time but was able to jog off

If they are covering Willis up to the point we can’t target him but once in an entire half when he’s almost out of bounds, there are others open & Nick just ain’t seeing them or he’s reluctant to let it fly. Nick has to either play with abandonment or hand the ball to somebody that will. He’s better than this & is playing very scared right now & just tucking and running but not productively. 5th game people & he’s done this before. We have not looked comfortable offensively at all. OC buddy….find a way to get the ball to your playmakers like all the other coaches do.

The Good: Kelly is a weapon. If we can keep the QB upright, we can build on that in conference play. The OL is performing slightly better considering the injuries.

The Bad: They clearly don’t trust the defensive back 7 in a man to man matchup. That unit needs a flip.

Watching QB run & drop in fetal position is just bad offense! We need productive plays. We have no fight in the dawg offensively. Why did we show up?

TOUCHDOWN TERRY WILKINS

The Memphis product makes it a warm homecoming with a five yard touchdown rush.

BRANDON THOMAS 1-YARD TOUCHDOWN RUSH

Memphis puts it back to a 14-point lead. The return really kickstarted that drive.

Middle Tennessee: 7
Memphis: 21

I think redshirt freshman Isaac Rue was in at left guard for at least the end of that drive. Stands at 6'6 and 307 pounds

Idk what Stewart was thinking there. That’s probably the worst kick catch interference I’ve ever seen. I’m honestly shocked that’s a penalty by rule. I would have assumed something was in there for if it wasn’t “catchable”.

Marvae Myers with a big pass breakup. Played good defense that drive. Holds Memphis to a 47-yard field goal from Caden Costa.

Holden Willis picks up the first down but fumbles. Omari Kelly recovers, however. On to the fourth quarter with ball in Memphis territory
