i guess nobody is going to address this

Article about our chances of joining the MAC.
I'm not sure I see the value from the MAC side of adding two more mouths at their table.

I'm torn between that option and sticking it out and seeing if something can be salvaged from CUSA. CUSA right now seems about where we were when the Sun Belt was first forming. There some schools that want to move up that keep CUSA viable for the short term, at least.

I think security is attractive, but am concerned that going to MAC locks MT forever to that conference as we see ESPN will actively discourage other ESPN conferences from poaching programs now and in the future from espn conferences.

In my old Memphis St. days I used to hate playing on the road at Cincy and Louisville in November. It snowed one year in Cincy.

I can only imagine what Michigan, Ohio and New York will be like late in the season.🥶🥶🥶

I guess the diehard MT fan could drive over to Niagara Falls and see the frozen mist.

Beggars shouldn't be choosers...but MAC doesn't help with recruiting.

MT recruits GA, AL, FL, and MS. It needs to be in a conference with schools in those states for recruiting purposes.

Can you picture Stock, Brock, West and Mallory recruiting a FL or GA 18-year old on playing in Buffalo NY, Toledo OH or Mt. Pleasant MI in November??? I’d bet most of them have never even seen a snowfall. 😂😂

MAC schools recruit FL and GAA kids all day. Buffalo had Khalil Mack, from Ft. Pierce, FL.

if the 6 stand pat that 27 million they split from the exit fees alone, not counting the extra basketball units and entrance fees. Can UCA, JAX St, EKU and Kennesaw move up sooner. Can ODU convince JMU that CUSA is the better option? That was the entire premise before of them leaving the OVC. Not worried about the belt, APP state is the only school that has that atmosphere people saw on TV last night and every once and a while UL.

As others have already alluded to in these posts, it is absolutely disgusting having to watch the future of MTSU now be decided by the whims of others with MTSU having little to no input. Then again, those in authority at MTSU have had their say for this outcome for years. They deliberately placed MTSU in this position. Think about that!

How in the h*ll are these people at least not being asked to resign immediately?

In the meantime, MTSU could quite possibly end up again in the exact same position of over 20 years ago of being in the conference of has-beens, passed over rejects, and newly arrived FCS programs with nowhere else to go. Disgustingly, this could end up being one of the better outcomes for MTSU. If so, say hello to EKU, Central Ark, etc. Otherwords, welcome to a mash-up of OVC and ASUN under a glorified name of C-USA.

If my suspicions are correct, The 3Ms likely have a few days to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat. I'm not holding my breath. It makes me wonder if charity from the MAC might actually be the better outcome, or at least the less repulsive outcome.

Make no mistake, that is where McPhee and Massaro have left MTSU, hoping for charity from the MAC. With MTSU being the weak little sibling that comes along with WKU.

For positive spin, the MAC folks be like: H*ll yea, late season November road games to the South in Tennessee and Kentucky.

I believe I read somewhere that wku missed an invite to the MAC by one vote back about 15 or 16 years ago. I still don't sense any overwhelming need for the MAC to invite wku and mt.

WKU probably is not tied to the hip with MT on conference moves and I can see wku as they climb into a MAC lifeboat putting a foot to MT's face pushing us away and under the water as they paddle away.

If we stand pat (or more likely have no other choice) and cusa manages to survive with a mish mash of FBS misfits and FCS move ups, there may be moves a little further down the road that open up more favorably and hopefully there will be better conference and university leadership in place at that time.

You are correct Space,

*better leadership* that really is the key that matters for MT's future.

If this announcement Monday at Marshall is that they, ODU, JMU and USM are moving to the Sun Belt, CUSA is down to 5 schools. NCAA requires 8 teams to be a FBS conference. So that leaves 4 options: CUSA convinces at least 3 schools to join. We move to MAC. We go FBS independent & join the OVC/Southern Conference, etc for all other sports or we drop to FCS.

It makes sense for the MAC to invite WKU and UMass more than us.

That’s a lot of “ifs” space. Hope ain’t a strategy.

wasn't this the same melt down when these same teams went to CUSA before MT? Big 12 ain't done, watch them poach Memphis, USF to kill off the original AAC and Navy goes indy. PAC12 and BIG aren't done yet either

I'm getting dizzy, but is this correct. C-USA looks to only have us, WKU, La Tech, UTEP and FIU remaining? I really don't see how that can be salvaged, so the MAC may not be the best conference, but a bad conference is better than no conference. A-Sun might be better, if they'll have us, but I don't expect anything positive, as long as the current a-clowns are running things.

There are two folks who’s opinions and take on all of this I value. 1) I’d love to here or read what Rick Insell thinks. 2) The other one got mad at me over his loyalty to Stock so I’m not gonna bother him anymore. Unlike our admins calling the shots, these two folks are MT alums and love the school as much and probably more than I do.
Another event that speaks volumes to me is the quick and quiet exit of the BRAA director before all of this hit the fan. As a former AD himself, I think he saw a lot of these festering issues about to explode. Is anyone even running the BRAA now?

At this point, I say MAC. Do I want it, not necessarily. But it is a conference that is at least stable, and is under the mouse house umbrella. We certainly could do worse. Being a stable conference means possibly less chance for the 4 amigos to screw something up.

Found a map made of us and WKU in the MAC. Can't post pics for some reason but it wasn't too crazy.

If they do go Independent I imagine a schedule like this
4 games - 2 Home and Homes with UConn
4 body bag road games vs big schools
1 home game vs 1AA
3 home and home alt year games vs likes of Liberty, UTEP, ect

I haven't posted for over a year, for many of the same reasons you have all mentioned. But here is the situation. I've gone from a all day Saturday tailgater to a check the box score and shrug fan. I feel cheated by the time and money I pushed toward my alma mater. I've been all over this country since 1999 as a Blue Raider. And now, you know who has my money? Nashville Soccer Club. It was always up for grabs, but someone else appreciated me as a fan more.

I have 3 kids playing and practicing nearly every night of the week. It's a phase in life, I know. But I don't know when I'll be back. My kids even ask, why don't the Blue Raiders win anymore.? They used to love going to the stadium. If it's the MAC so be it, independent, new conference, I don't care, none of will until the product changes. Winning culture doesn't start with the players, it's an ideal. My daughter's soccer coach tells them when they lose the ball, they have 3 seconds to get it back. I feel like Massaro's office lost it years ago and hasn't even turned around yet.

Look on the bright side. If all this plays out and we end up in another crappy conference CRS's chances to win an outright championship could double from zero to one percent.

Even though I live in Wisconsin now and could drive to some MAC schools for games, I would much rather see the remaining members of CUSA group up with Liberty and the rest of the ASUN. Both option suck and we have our "leadership" to blame. They refused to see the problem and now it is so obvious, but not even sure if they see it still. I got my masters at Troy, so I guess I can always switch over to them. At least they have a conference. The biggest problem with this is no one cares about MTSU enough to hold McPhee and Massaro accountable for this. I am sure the THEC would love to make MTSU an extension campus for UT-Southern instead of see us prosper. It was nice while it lasted. We didn't always agree, but it all ended with us all on the same page.

I see I'm not the only one who is starting to entertain the prospect that despite the undeniable reality of massive failure on an epic scale, MTSU's leadership goes nowhere.

Has the system become so sick and toxic that massive institutional failure results in NO consequences for those in leadership and responsible for the massive failure?

Sadly, there is a lot of that going on around our country these days. I guess it is good to see that there are still some people, groups, and communities fighting to uphold their institutions. It's sickening that ours ain't one of 'em.

I haven’t posted here in years. But I’m in Wisconsin, too, since 2005 (‘02 MTSU grad). Where are you located?
