Obviously, some teams are going to absorb a share of the losses in conference play. Hopefully, C-USA teams will be better in scheduling and playing the OOC schedule. While a share of conference losses will be distributed, conference members can still maintain a reasonably decent RPI. The last few years have seen way too many C-USA teams in the 250+ RPI range sadly with more than our fair share of 300+ RPI rankings.

At least this year there is some sign of improvement at least with the top half of the conf. It does appear that that MT will have their hands full this season with more than just one or two title contenders. In addition to MT, it looks like WKU, Marshall, ODU, and UAB are all contenders for the top of the conference.

Of the basement dwellers, Charlotte and UTEP will be getting new HCs. At least both of those programs have tremendous potential for lots of success. Southern Miss will start getting their scholarships back from the NCAA next year to start to be able to recruit and put on the court a full roster of players. North Texas appears to be improving with their new 1st year HC.

Somewhere between not terrible and not so good are the two FxU schools and UTSA. I guess it's asking too much that both FxU schools improve basketball at the same time they are improving football.

As for LaTech and Rice, who saw the LaTech train wreck coming? LaTech still appears to be heading downward, yet they seem like they are not that far from being a pretty decent team. Then there is Rice. Losing a good HC and one of the best players in the conference to transfer has hurt them about as one would expect. Who knows when that ship gets turned around.
