FOOTBALL Middle Tennessee vs Vanderbilt (CBSSN), 6PM Saturday, October 3, Homecoming

VU has been playing FB at the highest college level for what, over 100 years. MT has been playing at the highest level for a dozen or so.

Been going to MT FB games since the "Small" college classification and will be going if we drop to D-3. Speaking of D-3, sometime go to a game on the mountain at previous $EC member U of South. Great atmosphere and guess what, even at that level a good game can be entertaining.

Can't worry about conference or level of play, MT is my school. I've quit worrying about those who are disloyal and support a "big" time program. Your slap at MT's conference may be true for them. I go to see my team play and hopefully see a good game.

By the way, I grew up a VU fan (several family members were/are either fans or grads) and have gone to many games on West End even after becoming a Blue Raider. Regardless, some VU fans make it hard for me to remain neutral when they play someone other than MT.

Good post.

Every fanbase has horrible fans so the I grew up a VU fan but their fans stuff is pretty lame. We all have bad fans, humans are the same across the board (exept UTjr fans, which are literally the worst).

VU has some great fans and some horrible fans. Most of our fans are beaten down dogs, quite frankly. We probably have more nerds than most fanbases, but I'm kinda nerdy, so that's ok too.

Glad you support your program rain or shine, win or lose. I wish we had more fans like you.

Could you imagine the mass confusion in that stadium with a sell out with 75% of the people used to just buying a ticket and sitting where you want vs the people who are trying to sit where their ticket tells them.
Ive thinking about that too. Could be messy

That's the thing. I no longer give 2 craps about attendance. We have a good product for an amazing price point. I get seats in my stadium that are unattainable in other stadiums without having to pay any extra money. (booster club) It's a great place to see a ballgame and very easy to get in and out of. We offer and do more for families than any other sports venue I know of. If people can't figure that without someone spelling it out for them then it's gotta be on them. I show up regardless. I'm keeping those front row seats in 2HH on the 50 til I die or go bankrupt. Even if I go bankrupt, I'll sell plasma in the offseason to support this habit I have formed. So I guess I'm keeping them til I hit the dirt for good.

However, I do think that's why this matchup is a great thing for both programs and should be played every year. You're gonna have buzz which helps both schools with exposure and both schools should travel well. It saves money for the school and the fans while some attention is taken away from that school in Knoxville. Why not make it a rivalry? I wish we played Memphis and Vandy every year. It's good for everyone even if the fans don't think so.

I love MT because I went there, graduated from there, have and still mentor in the dept. I majored in. I even taught a class there. I'll be honest. That's another reason why I'm such a die hard. Most of the people that attend games at MT on the regular are die hards too. Not as much bandwagon riding here. Don't know if that's good or bad but I respect it. I love rooting for a school I went to and am proud of.

Line has moved to -2. Not sure how I feel about it moving our way. Normally against a P5 I feel good about it moving our way because the public prefers the big school so that means the sharps are probably coming our way most of the time. However most people look down on vandy so I think it could be public money coming our way which can be bad. I am sure the professional gamblers will come correct me on this.

I think your analysis is spot on. Public hates Vandy and MTSU is the big school in this game.

Not sure who is moving the needle here though.

I don't think the public really hates Vandy. They just know that Vandy usually stinks it up, whereas MT is usually a good pick ATS.

Vandy has been just as good ATS as we have. Kinda just proved the point that the public thinks Vandy stinks.

Well said.

A guy that posts on our homeboard had this to say about the line movement:

"Over 90% of the early bets came in on Vandy. Dropped to slightly over 60% as week moved on and line moved down. When line at casinos dropped to even, the bets went to MT quickly (maybe a sharp). Line went back to MT -1 to -1.5 for the casinos with the bets still over 60% on Vandy."

If that is true than I feel way better.

Well, not exactly. According to ESPN, Vandy is 2-1-1 ATS, we are 4-0-0. Granted I don't know that much about ATS and betting, but I believe it's common knowledge that Vandy under CDM hasn't been as reliably good ATS as it might have been under Franklin.

I guess the forty point win to APSU was a loss. That's why I don't give much credit or play to lines vs FCS. Teams can name their total so who knows when they decide to hit the brakes. They covered a bunch down the stretch last year IIRC. They are 2-0-1 against FBS this year and covered against the #8 and #3. Not chumps ATS by any means.

This is also a must win for Vandy. Mason probably gets canned if he can't win tonight.

Mason will not be fired if they lose. Vandy has a very high tolerance for losing. Don't act like Vandy is Alabama or even Tennessee for that matter when it comes to firing coaches.

You people are so mad. Why are you so mad?

And yes, Mason gets canned if he loses to MTSU. I'll be happy to place a wager on that if that result occurs.

1-11 = canned

Anybody having second thoughts about making a sunrise drive to Bowling Green, KY next weekend? They beat the sh*t out of Rice today in Houston. 49-10. I know I am.

Luckily I never thought of it to begin with. Glad for that. Do not want to waste 180 miles of Petrol on that shit.

Is it sad that I'm hoping for a 65 - 0 stomping in Bowling Green to try and shake this offensive staff up? I've never liked the Buster hire from day #1 and to this day still do not believe he is an FBS level coordinator. I cringe when I hear Brent talking about how great our offensive staff is and how prepared he feels coming into games. Clearly that isn't the case.....Buster's offense consistently folds like a cheap tent any time we face a defense with a pulse. Running the score up against high school teams has helped him to keep his job when in reality those performances shouldn't even be considered when evaluating his job performance because they are not indicative of performance in meaningful games..(which is $hit)...

I've been drinking so I won't comment on Buster but I will say I'm sick of this sh|t. I hope attendance is never brought up again on this board or the other one.

One bright spot tonite. The wife and her Vandy friend decided to stay home because of the rain and friend worked as a volunteer the Donald Trump appearance here at The Factory. I sold their two tickets for face value (15 minutes before kickoff) to a really nice Vandy couple who drove up from Muscle Shoals.

You guys as well. As much as I despise Vanderbilt when we meet in Football, you guys have consistently cashed a ton of tickets for me over the years by being a covering machine in SEC games. I've won every game I've bet on that involved Vanderbilt this year (didn't bet this week thank god) taking WKU & APSU when they played against you guys and then your team in every other game. I had you guys BIG in a first half bet against Ole Miss and you cashed that AND the game bet. Please, continue to almost win SEC games and be a covering machine. Lord knows my bank roll needs it right now since I can't win much else.

I was told Buster doesn't call the plays.
