Had to leave before the end of the game and turned on our “flagship” WGNS. No game…just a talk show. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised😩

Listened to Chip's post game interview with CNM & J. Porter. At least when Chip interviewed Porter post game he said not to worry & that Counter would be ok.
I'm not as confident as Jestin, but as Chip said "we like Dr Porter's medical report."

guess yall missed our center banking 3's off the back board (lucky)

if Weston stays in that game we lose. thankfully someone talked some sense into mcdevitt or maybe he actually realized Weston can't hold up against aggressive and fast defenses. Dude is a turnover machine against good teams

"barrage of threes" and cites 1 three pointer

"turnover machine" and only had 2 turnovers. He sat him for 10 minutes after the second one.

Watching Weston is the most infuriating thing. He could be very good but is so lazy on defense and too careless with the ball.

Take that lucky 3 away and it changes the complexion and momentum of the game entirely down the stretch.

And by the way, yes, shooting 20% above your average from 3 as a team is basically a lucky shooting night (Definition of it, actually). We are very lucky the shots fell because Weston tried his best to give that game away in crunch time. Stats might say 2 turnovers but it felt like 10 and he also played terrible defense all night long. I recall one particular careless turnover where afterwards he then loafed down the court and gave his man (a 47% 3pt shooter) a wide open 3 which he of course swished. That's a potential 5 or 6 point swing in a matter of 5 seconds for a team that is mounting a comeback.....Inexcusable. It's no coincidence that the bleeding stopped and we even re-extended our lead some after Weston came out....

The guy is a total liability and has been for most of his career here. If you can't acknowledge that that's on you. I'm done coddling the guy because of his athleticism and supposed NBA scouting (Yeah F'ing right, he wouldn't even hack the G league with those ball handling skills). Tired of being nice and polite about the situation too. He's had plenty of time to cut the shit and play proper basketball. This is not a rec league and this isn't amateur college athletics anymore. He's getting money put in his pocket + a scholarship. The expectations are higher now and so will be the criticisms. This is a professional sport now.

But back to 3 point shooting. Those numbers are always going to even out over a season. That's why fundamentals (Rebounding, assists, ball movement, FT shooting, limiting TO's, etc) is the cornerstone of a good team. I can't emphasize that enough. Surprisingly, most of the players on this team actually do have pretty solid fundamentals, and overall, this team actually could push for a championship if they stay healthy and play the right rotations (and improve at the FT line....)

And that's what makes the Weston situation even more infuriating. It's one thing to borderline sabotage your team when you're a quad 3 or 4 W for most of your opponents....It's a whole 'nother story to go out there and play rec league ball when you've got a great team with championship and NCAA potential. It's unfair to the rest of the team and it's unfair to the University. I refuse to believe Weston cannot play with more urgency and responsibility when handling the ball.

If I'm McDevitt I'm having a sincere heart to heart with the kid. Tighten it up or get used to keeping your warm-up's on.

If you're going to pick something that was different in every game, you will have an excuse for every win. Complaining about making threes is certainly one route to go coming out of that

Maybe read, and more importantly comprehend, what I'm saying before replying?

I literally said the majority of the players on this team are good fundamental players, then you find the need to reply and cite that they played well fundamentally (minus Weston of course)???????

Nobody is making excuses for a win. I'll make this easy for you.

Weston is overrated and sucks ass. We're fortunate to get out of that USF game with a win because Weston nearly gave it away. Thankfully Nick finally pulled him and stopped/reversed the bleeding. It doesn't appear Weston has learned anything or progressed his game forward in the years he has been here (Not all his fault, McDevitt deserves equal blame if not more)

Weston was first on the team with a plus-11 plus/minus yesterday.
But go off, Wooden.
You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Also leads the team in turnovers as a GUARD that hasn't even started every game.....

Luckily for you it's a long season and he will be sure to disappoint many more times I'm sure because McDevitt won't keep him off the floor or reign in his behavior

Weston at point is like going to a bar with a buddy who gets a little too wild after 3-4 drinks. He's fine in moderation, just don't keep him at point too long.
If Counter is ok, & looks like he will be (fingers crossed) I think a lot of our worries will be ultimately a mute point. When Weston, with Counter at point, & Porter are on the floor together they are a dangerous trio for the opposition. Weston to me is still a talent, & is a benefit to the team on the floor. I just prefer relegating him to the point in small 2-3 minute doses.

There's definitely some trauma there from the last few years if I'm being fair. So many wild and unnecessary turnovers and then when you have a laid back coach like McDevitt who doesn't seem to care it's even more infuriating. He can score fairly well when he's not turning it over but I do feel like he's lost a step getting to the basket this year. He used to drive with ease. Not so much anymore. Probably the knee injury I'm sure. His outside shooting has improved somewhat but I still think we have better options when healthy. Guess we'll see as the season goes because I'm sure McDevitt will continue to give him plenty of minutes.

This is exactly how I feel, he is a good player but I don’t like running the entire offense through him.
