Did anyone else here the announcers mention during the game that we didn't use any NIL money on our football team this season? What would the strategy behind not doing tha be? Is that why we don't have any offensive lineman?

Derek Mason has been adamant that he will use our NIL money to retain players not bring them in. I would think he was wanting to evaluate who is worth keeping.

I must have missed him talking about it. Don't know if that is the best strategy or not but hopefully he will adjust if it doesn't work out like planned.

That's how it should be. This giving money to high school kids like that Michigan deal is ridiculous.
Even the NFL has a scale for rookies and you have to earn the big bucks.

Also remember Raiders Rising just started this year and BRAA priority points were just added for donations there as well as part of the House settlement. Some schools are even bringing it all in-house.

I do know The Boulevard pays some players. Vatiatto is one.

MT is playing catch-up with facilities (SAPC should have been built 10 years ago) and NIL / collective (should have been put in place a few years ago). Blame it on Stock. Blame it on McPhee. Blame it on someone else. But it's gonna be a bit before MT has the means to compete with peer schools on recruiting trail with facilities / NIL

Anyone still giving to this administration is throwing good money after bad. My money went east. I'm one of the few here who went to both UTK and MT and for two decades I gave every amount of my attention, time, hard earned money, etc. to help build this program and all this administration did with what I gave was basically piss it away or burn it in the dumpster fire they created. Worse, they took those of us doing this for granted even gaslighting us over any frustrations or disappointment expressed. The only UT game I went to over an 22 year period was the one when they hosted MT. I'm now a season ticket holder in Knoxville. That wasn't my preferred option. This leadership drove me to that. They did this. And you Vol hates can crap on that all you want but I seriously doubt you can blame an alum for redirecting his contributions from a place that's both clueless and incompetent to a place that's actually trying and is dedicated to being the best it can be. That is not the description of m-TSU. I hope to return someday, but we have a leadership cadre that has no self awareness for their poor choices and mismanagement - most of which were so obvious that the only analogy that I can think of how this group has managed is a deer in the headlights. And that headlight was a freight train blaring its horns. And they still did nothing. It's unfathomable.

I don't blame you for going east. It's your money.

Honestly, UT games look fun.

And McPhee (IMO) seems to have mishandled almost every opportunity to strengthen the MT brand in the region.

I can't believe how much I don't care anymore because of inaction and incompetence.

Nothing will change unless someone is hired as a complete 180 from SM to be our president. I am not going to restate the obvious that has been said many times about the current leadership and direction but everyone's point so far is valid and true.

#1. I don't know how much money we have. Probably not a ton.

#2. I'm not sure how much money our peers have outside of Liberty. WKU ponied up to keep a QB once, but at the end of the day, players ain't coming to CUSA for NIL, so if we do get a good one, I've no issue with using our limited funding to try and keep them.

Mason's first year about went as expected, but there's opportunity to continue to flip the roster here which is needed. Need to nail the recruiting and portal this offseason.

For the first time in a long time, we have recruits that don't appear to be just anonymous nobodies that I can't find any info on, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Indeed. I've been saying for a while now I believe it's over. We missed our chance. Playing and trying to compete in football just feels so futile now. We don't have any of the things you need to have a successful program. (Money, fans, competent administration, local community support, etc.)

We are broke. Nobody cares about MTSU/taken for granted by the locals. Our administration couldn't be worse if they tried, truly. Landscape changes have rendered programs like ours glorified JUCO's and with each passing year and every new rule that gets passed we fall further and further behind, especially with this administration that takes 10 years to react to changes.

It's over
