Making a continuous thread here keeping track of players who have been linked with Middle Tennessee on X dot com. Will add my general thoughts and how interested i am based on my first impression.

Looks like a pure stretch 5. Loofe's HS highlights had a decent amount of 3s (more than we saw last year) but Pikaar's contain a larger share of them. Stroke looks more natural. Unsure if hed be a replacement, insurance, or if Nick is trying to move away from the ball handling bruiser types like Dish and JCJ. He's also being recruited by Penn State and St. Bonaventure.

I am interested.

JuCo standout also being recruited by Tarleton State and Oakland. I like the profile. 17 ppg 4.8 apg on a 50/37/77 shooting line. Southern Idaho went 23-9 also so its not a good player on garbage team situation. Film shows good physical traits as well.

I am interested.

Combine is a good school. Looks a solid on the catch and shoot. Seems physically mature but not exceptionally quick off the bounce. I think he will have strength to finish at the rim but wonder if he has the chops to create his own shot. Tough to evaluate exclusively on youtube highlights. I am interested but a little curious on how much development he needs.

Missed 23-24 due to a foot injury but has averaged 15 ppg 5rpg and 3.7 apg over two seasons. The 3p% really worries me (31% in his last season over 5 attempts a game), but the solid FT% (80% over two seasons) suggests there's room for improvement. Central Arkansas went 20-42 over his two seasons there. Too many risks here for me.

I actually like this move.

Murphy Center crowds haven’t look like that since the Minnesota NIT game on 3/21/12.

More like this………….. or worse.

If I were Nick, I'd just be offering transfers. He is not going to save his job next season by getting a few high school players.
Walker the only real high school player and I’m not sure he comes here. The stretch bug is at Sunrise postgrad so he’s a year out of high school. Everyone else I’ve seen is really JUCO and transfers

5th year. Doesnt take 3s (and isnt efficient when he does) despite being 6'1. About a 1:1 assist turnover ratio. He is 51% from 2 over four years, suggesting hes very strong and has great finishing ability. Still just not the archetype I like at guard when we already have a Cam Weston.

He played so sparingly at Arkansas its hard to takeaway any statistics. Muss has a decent eye for talent though so that says something. Rivals had him in the top 150 of his HS class.

UPDATE: committed to Arkansas State

Stats suggest hes a solid shooter. Rebounds per game (8.6) are pretty impressive for just being 6'5. SE Louisiana was a pretty bad team though. Profile reminds me a lot of Ty Mosley.

Career average is 5.7 ppg over 73 career games in four years. Had an okay junior year with 3-point efficiency is about the best thing I can say.

The Citadel was very bad this year and he has more turnovers than assists, but looks like he can score in volume. 35% from 3. 10 of 13 FGAs per game were from 2 but his efficiency there is fine as well. Backcourt scoring is a desperate need. I am interested.

Stats are very nice. 22 ppg 5 apg. 49/41/84 splits. 2:1 AST/TO ratio. D2 all American. He's small and D2 but numbers are stellar enough to be intrigued.

Great AST:TO ratio (5.4 apg & 2.1 TO pg last year). Not efficient as a scorer. Looks like UTSA's leading scorer only played 20 games so maybe he was forced into that type of role. Really good FT% (87%) which encourages optimism that the 3-point shot can get better. Im so ecstatic Nick is pursuing a pure PG I could probably look past any of his warts.

5 star last name. Interesting kinda player. 6'7 and average rebounder. Decent offensive rebs i suppose. Poor shotblocker. Inefficient shooting percentage from 2 and 3 yet was Louisiana Monroe's leading scorer. 2 apg for a player his size is the intriguing part. I imagine hed be the center orchestrator Nick likes to use. Probably has tools but not enough statistical substance for me.

do any of these guys have any TN connections/roots at all?

The only local connections currently on the roster are walkons. No other TN connections that I can see. I heard legit criticisms on Stockstill, that he did not recruit locally, but can't honestly recall the same for McDevitt's recruiting.

Originally from Gallatin. Played at IMG (top 10 maybe top 5 HS basketball program in the country). 17 games at 10 mins per so small sample, but over half his shots were from 3 and he hit them at 37%. HS highlights suggest he's a stretch forward. Definitely a player id like to take a flyer on.

IMO, it's a little bit different because Middle Tennessee has become a hotbed for fb recruiting, not as much with other sports. McDevitt has alot of flaws, but don't think he's neglected his backyard like Stock did

Originally from Kentucky. Next year will be his sixth season removed from HS. Love the profile. Lipscomb's leading scorer last year and second leading scorer the year prior. 44% from 3 last year, 39% the year prior. 57% from 2 last year as well, pretty good for a 6'3 player. Might be a longshot if CoC and Samford are the frontrunners but he is exactly the kind of player MT could use.

FG% is low but partially because over half his shots are 3s. AST/TO ratio is good. but still just a low-volume statistical player for someone averaging 22 mins. Longwood did just win the Big South but numbers and level of competition are nothing to get excited over. Would envision him as a depth guard at best.

Scoring volume is good. 2p% is good. Assist volume is good but is overshadowed by a very very bad turnover volume. IUPUI ranked 360th (third to last) on KenPom this year. They got two players from 2023 portal that played on abominably bad teams: one barely played and the other was a complete liability on offense. The fact they are still trying their luck at the best players from the absolute worst teams in the country is very discouraging to me.

EDIT: of players who played over 700 mins, Counter was third in the nation in TOPG in 22-23. Was 11th in 23-24.
