I think he would be a good backup for what Dexter McCluster's role does in the offense.

That's a good spot for him. Sankey is a lock, and so is the new draft pick David Cobb, but after that I wouldn't say anyone else is.

I could see Whatley making the practice squad easily, and maybe even taking over for McCluster, who's pricey and not very productive.
