Rate the top 3 D1 era Seasons

So I brought this up awhile back. Let’s rate the seasons in terms of success in the D1 era.

2009 we were awesome and first bowl win
2006 first bowl game
2017 2 bowl win.

The rest.

Our best team was 2001.

Our 2nd best team (could argue best season) was 2009.

I would take 2012 (beat Troy, WKU, Memphis & Georgia Tech) next. We may have got smoked, but we were playing for a championship the last week of the season.

2006 - same record, ended bad, but playing for a championship the last week

2013 & 2016 were better seasons, but this one ended happy, so depending on how you define success, I put this one 5,6 or 7.

I’m leaning 5 just be because I feel better in the moment, but for me, winning a bowl doesn’t completely overcome the disappointments we had this year.

I agree with your top three. 2016 and 2017 would never get consideration from me because there were losses to wky and vandy.

We should have beaten miss state in 09. That would have put us at 11 w's.

Here is my top seven rankings 1999-2017

1. 2001 - Co Championship in SunBelt (Yes, beat Arkansas State 54-6!) 8-3 record
2. 2006 - Co Championship in SunBelt (heartbreak city--should have stopped Troy on 4th and 17: Lost 20-21)
3. 2012 - SunBelt runner up (Georgia Tech Win. But bitter, bitter loss to Arkansas State). 8-4 record.

4. 2009 - Ten Win Season and bowl win over Southern Mississippi
5. 2000 - Winning season as independent (2nd year as FBS) 6-5 record and a shutout of Conn. Undefeated at home.
6. 2017 - Seven win season with a bowl win over Arkansas State, defeated Syracuse.
7. 2013 - 8-5 record: defeated Marshall 51-49 and Memphis. Lost to Navy quite soundly in the Bell Helicopter Bowl.
