Charlotte comes in 5-5. Combo of close home wins & a number of bad road losses. Has not won a true road game yet. Bad losses to NC State, Illinois, & Clemson. All of those losses were by 25 or more points. Did recently have a 6 point home win over UAB. The 3 lost starters from last year's championship team has definitely impacted this team early on. If Raiders come ready to play as they did at Rice look for a +20 point home victory.

Hope we don't take them for granted or let off the gas (as happened in the Houston game). They have the talent, but they don't have the results to show for it so far this year. That loss of those 3 starters really hurt them so far.

Appreciate you

Charlotte was indeed picked 3rd in the CUSA Preseason Poll. This is a big one today...

Wheeler did not come out for 2nd half. She hit her head hard on the floor just before halftime. Hope it is not a concussion

It looks like it might be. Insell said in the postgame he wasn't sure of her status, but hoped she won't be out too long. I guess this is a silver lining to Whittington's injury - CAB got a lot of playing time and is ready to be PG for the team all game. She looked great today. Her speed is just incredible. A couple of thoughts: couldn't believe the bad shooting to start the game (3-25 in the first quarter... not a typo) but really turned it up defensively and that led to good offense the rest of the game. We play like that, we're hard to beat against most teams in the country. Top 25 or otherwise. Malashka is extremely talented and IMO should be the favorite for CUSA POY so far.

With Wheeler's injury & Boldyreva's worst game of the year was glad to see Tamia's additional play time. Also happy that Grannum & especially Blakely played well with the extended play time. In the long run this will assist in our team depth. Wheeler will hopefully return after possible concussion protocol & Boldyreva's too good for continual missed layups & 10 foot air balls. You can see her frustration. Pretty sure her sophomore slump is all mental. To get her confidence back she just needs a couple of shots to start dropping.

What is the concussion protocol in college basketball? (1 week?) Does anyone know if Savannah has a history of concussions?

That's what CRI said as well. Anastasiia's rough play has been all in her head, and she'll overcome that with some time and more game play. And not sure about Savannah

After a rough start, Western has righted the ship and beats Rice at Rice tonight. Winning in Bowling Green is never an easy task so Saturday is a now a big road test for the Lady Raiders.

Just looked at their quarter by quarter box score. Strangest scoring ever. Rice wins 1st quarter by 10, Western wins 2nd quarter by 9. After the half Rice wins the 3rd by 8, & then Western destroys Rice by 14 in the 4th. Each quarter was a dominant swing by the opposing team. As mentioned above WKU will be fired up. We can't afford 3-25 1st quarter shooting. Believe we opened with some holiday layoff rust. 1st quarter sucked, but from 2nd quarter on much better. Hopefully we'll come out with matching intensity from the start.

You are exactly right. We went up for the Lady Raider game and rushed back to catch the men at Murphy Center. I hate that they don't offset this rivalry game a day so fans could attend both. Anyway, different rant. We were up by 18 in the 4th quarter if I recall. WKU caught fire and while we sat on an ice block. WKU now is riding a wave of emotion and momentum is a dangerous thing, especially in a rivalry game. Lady Raiders are the clear favorite, but we also have to be prepared to take WKU's best shot on the road.
