BRZ refugees

Alright, well I've already seen a good number of BRZ posters migrate here and I think this is best for us all, as discussed in another thread.

I did want to start this thread though to maybe go over some things we may have missed or some pertinent info.

-General board rules? (language, politics, content censoring/removal)
-Premium content info perks?
-Where does this board stand on UT, Vandy, Titans, Preds (love em, hate em, meh?) Including non MT sports related news.
-We didnt have too many trolls over there, any issue or people to watch out for (few WKU posters come to mind).
-Board traditions or memorable moment?
-Posters with confirmed "insider" knowledge?
-What else should we should coming over here (post likes? other forums/features on the site).

Don't know a ton about the other board but I suspect you'd find similar topics here. We discuss all sports in general here but obviously focus on Blue Raiders. Politics has it's own board, so don't post about politics anywhere but there. All sports are discussed under "Raider Roundup" - We don't have different forums for each sport.

The Premium Content info is totally worth it in my opinion. You do have to understand that there are dead periods where there's just not much going on so not much info is posted, however; during busy times you're going to find info there you won't find anywhere else. As an example, the recent basketball coaching hire was pretty much nailed 2-3 days before it became public. I would encourage you to grab at least a month of premium, go back and read the info posted, and judge for yourself. If you are into recruiting premium is a must-have.

Trolls here get banned, period. Cussing is automatically filtered out by Rivals. There is no censorship whatsoever here. You can say whatever you like granted it doesn't break any laws or isn't blatant trolling.

Fans here don't generally like UT, Vanderbilt, or Memphis. I'm sure there's some closet fans with loads of their Orange Gear but they don't talk about it on here

Titans and Preds I would say are pretty well supported, especially with Kevin Byard being an all star with the club now.

BTW, welcome to all the 'refugees' the more the merrier...

(language, politics, content censoring/removal) try to keep it clean (abbreviate at least), politics, religion, there's a board for that. if you have info on a player injury before a game, take it to the premium board or that may get deleted/edited or moved to the premium board. One thing as a moderator I can not and will not abide is promotion of other sites. About once a month during the football and basketball season, someone starts posting links to some camp or site not related to MT and those will be deleted as soon as I see them and the poster will be banned. Promoting other sites, to the detriment of rivals or gomiddle.com will get deleted and if it continues the poster banned - that has not happened in years, but early on in the second iteration of gomiddle.com it was and is just one issue that was a particular sore point with me, and I have a long memory.

Moderation otherwise is pretty light, I know elsewhere some moderators take offense at the least little deviation from the party line. I think it is safe to say we have no party line, except we all want what's best for Blue Raider athletics and we all come at that from different angles and if we disagree, nobody here is likely to delete your post for your opinion.


-Premium content info perks? Casey can speak specifically to the benefits. I do know I enjoy the premium articles I get access to. Casey has a great staff of guys that love MT and produce premium content which is good. Even when the articles are free, it is still an excellent deal. I am thinking of the hard work the staff did on the FOIA thing with the Athletic Department last years that worked into three or four articles available to everyone. And I look forward to the staff's podcasts starting back up at some point later this year.

utk, vandy, memphis, belmont, etc...I despise them all. I despise most of all MT people who cheer for other programs over MT. If you have a degree from that other school, you get a pass. Titans, Preds, if you want to start a discussion on something with them I have no problem with it.

Very few trolls, we do have occasional posters from other programs and long as it is respectful I am okay with them. Vandy fans are an occasional problem and they don;t last long.

-Board traditions or memorable moment? Game threads during football and basketball season.

-Posters with confirmed "insider" knowledge? Casey and his staff are pretty good. We have various posters that pipe up from time to time.


-What else should we should coming over here (post likes? other forums/features on the site). Just experiment with the icons for the various options available when you are doing your posts. You can insert youtubes, soundcloud, tweets, etc. You can enlarge your font, text color, etc.

Best premium MT content anywhere is found here. Our guys are amazing for a G5 school.

Other teams - We hate everyone in college not named MT. Also, Preds/Titans talk is perfectly fine.

Other fans - we get some trolls from time to time, I remember particularly some Marshall and Vandy peeps. Not terrible, but you'll see a couple of threads pop up on game week. We give as good as we get, and then they go away. No one individual comes to mind.

Traditions - I think we have a lot of good folks here. I posted on BRZ, but this was my main board for MT. It just seemed a little more active plus I liked the Rivals support (recruiting info, database, the mods and premium guys are really responsive).

Insiders - I think we have some good sources. If you have a few extra bucks, kick some into a premium sub, you'll get a lot of good info.



Overall - welcome to the board. I've always thought our fanbase too small to be divided like it was and I hope this starts to snowball. Rivals boards (like any message board) has it's own quirks, you'll probably have to just play around with it.

I’ve posted on both boards over the years and have felt welcome on both. My problem these days is my almost complete apathy for MT athletics at all. Maybe I’m just a curmudgeon.

MT Athletics has a habit of turning its supports into curmudgeons, its done that to me too.

Same thing here - i've been in a multi-year funk since about the Hawaii bowl - i'll get excited closer to football season though.

I'm going to try and post more, if BRZ does indeed fold into here, we've a chance to make a great community even better.

Agreed. I’ve been highly put off by the football team lately, but maybe this will be the year?

One can see the reason why many might struggle for motivation and interest given the generally mediocre outcomes with football for more seasons than I care to count. With basketball, no such excuse applies.

Not to dig up an old thread, but I did want to point out that while I appreciate BRZ, I have come to like this board quite a bit more.

More responses and information, and its still the offseason.
