Last November, millions of conservatives turned out to vote in a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate and retire Harry Reid as Majority Leader -- a GOP majority that they hoped would promote conservative priorities.
So what happened? The Washington Cartel struck again.
The must-pass highway bill before the Senate provided a perfect opportunity to address concerns close to conservatives' hearts: defunding Planned Parenthood, addressing the catastrophic Iran deal, and repealing Obamacare -- and that's exactly what Ted Cruz fought to do. Unfortunately, the Washington Cartel had other plans.
So what did the new Republican Majority Leader decide he wanted to do with this opportunity? Partner with Democrat Harry Reid to pass a massive special interest giveaway known as the Export-Import Bank that puts taxpayers on the hook for hundreds of millions of dollars in loan guarantees going primarily to a handful of giant corporations. All while blocking any attempt to vote on your conservative priorities.
Reid was so excited about the deal he tweeted at the current Majority Leader and commended him for bringing up the Ex-Im reauthorization. Republicans may now have a majority in the Senate, but the Washington Cartel is still in control.
