excerpt:

...The Old Dominion women's basketball program suffered a major blow today, when it learned that Shae Kelley, the team's best player the last two seasons, will transfer to Minnesota to play her senior year.

Because Kelley graduates from ODU this spring, she is allowed to transfer to another school and become eligible immediately. Kelley had been looking at various schools that would give her the chance to play in one of the college basketball power leagues, such as the ACC or BigTen.

A 6-foot-1 forward from Denver, Kelley was at times dominant for ODU this past season. She led the team in scoring (17.8 points per game) and rebounding (9.7). She also had a team-high 61 steals and 42 blocked
shots.

She likely would have been the favorite for preseason Player of the Year next season in Conference USA ? she was the only first-team all-conference player scheduled to return.

The Lady Monarchs return three starters from the team that went 18-16 last season. The All Star Sports Report rates the Lady Monrchs' recruiting class as the best in C-USA. But coach Karen Barefoot will be hard-pressed to replace Kelley's deft scoring touch and her gritty presence under the basket, where she was rarely outworked for a rebound.....
