Unless we win. Then it has meaning, because people who don't really watch us will notice if we beat an SEC team (and then lose interest when we lose to FIU or something
).Yes it would. Even if we beat a team like Kentucky or Carolina or Missouri, people would still pay attention and be at least marginally more interested. Do you think us beating ANY of our CUSA opponents would generate the same amount of attention that beating Mizzou would? Maybe WKU, locally, but that's about it.
Beating Missouri would matter if we took care of business against Vanderbilt and WKU.
Look at Western Michigan. They're undefeated and have been DESTROYING teams and they're barely getting any pub.
When you're a school like MT, you've gotta win'em all if you want people to truly care and pay attention. And it's not like winning them all is asking too much. We've only been an underdog in one game thus far, Missouri will be our second. Every other game we will be favored in. Every game on the schedule this year was/is a winnable game. Not a single top 25 team on it. You want attention, you gotta clean house with a schedule like that. We didn't, so that's that.
