Ole Miss Player kneel during anthem

Yeah,

They have the freedom to do so....I also can choose to walk alway or support. It’s coming...so I don’t think I will be shocked when it happens. I will just have to make a decision as a fan.

What did the article say? Link not working...the Link title says something about a confederate rally...

Yea they were protesting a confederate rally on or close to campus. Protesting the removal of a confederate memorial. Apparent reaction to that rally and not police brutality or anything like that. I think it was an isolated incident. Not the best way to do it in my opinion, but they did not ask me.

I'm an old white guy and need some help understanding this "protest".
Did these kids choose to get a free education from a school who's athletic program is named the Rebels?
For 115 years this program has been called the Rebels. Every part of its being is based on the fact that it is
Southern based and before political correctness set in their mascot was a confederate general. These kats knew what they were signing up for. Should have known the history of their school and the meaning behind a 115 year old tradition about what a Rebel is . I support your right to protest. Just thought it odd to protest a group wanting to preserve a part of confederate history when you choose to play for a team who's indenty is based on confederate history. Either go play for the Orangemen (whatever that is) or go thru the proces of Changing your mascots name. This will be an issue on the Ole Miss campus for years to come.

Much easier to just kneel during the anthem.

I thought they're the Landsharks now?

If it was a one time protest, and hopefully that's all it is, they could have made a better choice on their method, but I've got no problem with them protesting racists being on their campus. Honoring/respecting those who fought in the war is one thing, being racist is another.

The more bizarre thing is, they're actually protesting/disrespecting the flag and anthem of the nation that defeated the confederacy and freed all men.

Not a lot of thought went into this, but it never does.
