MidTnBlues local music thread

Best bluegrass band I have ever heard here was Leipers Fork Bluegrass band out of Columbia. I will say the best bluegrass is heard from the sit in jams, though. The guys who are just having fun and improvising like they do at Uncle Macon Days.

I actually got my start with bluegrass. Was always listening to my parent's vinyls as a kid. My grandmother took me to a little rental building where some guys who I went to church with did a bluegrass jam once a month. Guys that have been playing music for probably 50+ years. Was piddling on a guitar and one of them asked if I knew how to play one. I didn't, so he taught me G C and D and told me to take the guitar home and bring it back next month. I learned those chords and had my first sit in jam at the age of 13. Been addicted ever since.

Also, if you haven't - I highly recommend taking a road trip here:

I had a time at the one I went to.

I saw these kids playing in downtown Nashville years ago. Just as street performers. Lost my mind when I saw them on Letterman. I think they are from New Jersey, but were in Nashville for a competition.
