really lopsided
As it was with all Ky OVC foes prior to the modern era. Primarily because Kentucky high school basketball was far, far, more competitive than that in TN. Took integration, better coaching, and more emphasis on BkB in TN which, comparatively, was a FB state.

Not sure how good Murray is supposed to be this year but I think this game will tell us a lot about this team. Murray is a tough place to play.

excerpt

...The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders clash with the Murray State Racers in Monday college basketball.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders are aiming for back to back wins to begin the year when the Murray State Racers take the floor. Middle Tennessee State comes off of a 104-52 thrashing of subdivision Trevecca Nazarene to kick off 2017-18. This game went as planned for the Blue Raiders who opened up a 23 point lead at the break and never let up until the final horn sounded.

Middle Tennessee held the Trojans to 34.1% shooting with 22 forced turnovers and 15 more rebounds which added up to 27 more looks at the basket. Middle Tennessee connected at almost 53% with four players scoring in double figures. Nick King paced the Blue Raiders with 17 points and six pulls on 6-9 while Antwain Johnson tossing in 16 points on 6-8 from the floor. Giddy Potts gave Middle Tennessee 15 points and five yanks followed by Karl Gamble with ten points and five yanks on 4-5.

The Murray State Racers have their sights set on a perfect 2-0 start to the season when the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders stop by on Monday. Murray State opened the year as predicted with a 118-61 rout of the Brescia Bearcats. The Racers were up 30 points at the intermission and kept their foot on the gas over the final 20 minutes. The Trojans were limited to 32% accuracy and outrebounded 44-24 which negated eleven more shot attempts.

Murray State seldom missed at a white hot 69% from the floor including a 13-23 performance on threes. Byron Hawkins pumped in a game high 28 points on 10-13 from the field with five bombs followed by a 17 point, eight rebound effort from Jalen Dupree. Jonathan Stark and Terrell Miller Jr. each scored 13 points with Miller hauling in ten rebounds.

Under is 9-2 in Middle Tennessee's last 11 Monday games and under is 10-3 in Middle Tennessee's last 13 non-conference games and Middle Tennessee are 22-8 ATS in their last 30 games overall. Murray are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 Monday games and over is 7-3 in Murray State- last 10 non-conference games.....

seriously what the hell are all these fouls??? im not sure i've ever seen anything like this

this nick king kid can play. jesus. anyone wanna help him out?

Seriously, these refs are terrible. Is there anyone we can contact about this? I've never seen such poor officiating in my life. Ever.

Just got in from dinner and started watching. These officials are crap but I've seen games at Murray and Bowling Green for 30 years and you just have to expect this nonsense. Not sure why we play these teams just because of this. The teams are usually decent but they should be coming to our place.

It is one thing to go back and forth on shots but these are ridiculous calls. Still not playing great.

honestly, the way we are playing, we 100% deserve to lose. you don't go on the road to a hostile place like this, shoot 10% from 3, and expect to win. you just don't. We've also turned the ball over SIXTEEN (16) times and the game isn't even over yet.

Unreal we are even in this thing. Refs are gonna need overtime to keep their over bet alive.

at least we are hitting our free throws this season

WHAT THE F ARE THESE GUYS DOING? DIXON AND POTTS CANT EVEN INBOUND A BALL?

King is the real deal. holy cow.

Simmons has a ton of potential. He has to see some more PT.

Everyone else has a lot of work to do. No idea where Potts and Dixon were tonight.

Early season games on the road are tough. Those guys will play better and King showed us he is an all CUSA player.

72-67 final

good guys win

Agreed. Any win up there is a good win.

That was an old fashion grind out win. Great FT shooting and clutch play inside. Winning on the road when you shoot poorly from the outside is always a pleasant surprise.

How the heck did N. King only average 5 ppg until now?

A couple of things:

1. We showed a lot of guts tonight. Murray is a very tough place to play and on a night where it seemed there was a foul on every play, we found a way to win.
2. Gamble has improved his game. His put back and 1 with about two minutes in the game was huge.
3. What can we say about King? I had my doubts that he could carry the load but so far he has looked like the real deal.
