Middle Tennessee carries a 4 game win streak into Jacksonville while JAX State is on a 2 game losing streak. Despite their 6-10 record JSU has shown to be a tough out at home with a 5-2 home slate. Many of their difficulties have been on the road as they have suffered through a 1-8 road start thus far.
MT would be wise to not to take their opponent for granted Wed night in anticipation of their big showdown with co-league leader FIU (13-5, 4-0).

Positive results: Awesome game from Boldyreva. Scoring, rebounding, blocked shots. She can do it all. Easy double double. 27 & 15 with 4 blocks. Also great shooting from Gregory with 8 3 pointers. Not a huge scoring game from Wheeler, but solid game all around.
Negative results: Just no offensive production from other starters. Reminded me of La Tech game where we relied on Boldyreva & Scott all game. Whitson like so many nights couldn't hit broadside of a barn, but rebounded hard.
We started out well in 1st quarter, but each quarter after that was progressively sloppy. Some of that was probably due to comfortable lead throughout whole game.
Nonetheless a 22 point road win should be solid enough to maintain current Net Ranking. As mentioned before we usually show some rust on game 1 versus game 2 of our weekly road games. Hopefully the kinks got worked out tonight, & we'll be primed for a total team effort at FIU Saturday.

Thinking about Boldyreva & Gregory's output tonight. Coach Matt may have one of the most select recruiting bases of any school in the country. He's smartly decided to narrow his recruiting areas to strictly 2 locations. The state of Tennessee, & all of Europe. I suppose when narrowing your recruiting area to such select locales it's easier to build solid coaching relationships.

No question , our recruiting has improved since he got here . we use to win games based on our coaching not our talent. Now we have the best talent in our league year in, year out. They are a good combination.

Our post play improvement is amazing. The work that the coaches have put in with Iullia & especially Boldyreva to improve post skills could put them both in WNBA by the time they finish their careers. Just hope 'Stasiia decides to stay on an additional year.

Just a note about recruiting in the last coaches show Rick mentioned Matt has been going hard after a player in the Dallas area so the coaches all drove up to see her play after the Sam Houston game and it looks like we’re gonna get her. No details on who but he was super pumped about it

I also heard we have a good shot at getting Blair Baugus, the reigning Miss Basketball from Wayne County. She is just a junior this year but word is, she will make a decision soon. She was at the Lady Raider game against NM State this past weekend donning MT gear and participating in locker room activities. Fingers crossed 🤞.

Forgot about the upcoming Dallas player. Hope we get her. MT's recent success is paying dividends in recruiting. Having multiple WNBA players from MT plus one which is a 3 time world champ has to get attention from young ladies across the country. Add in recent victories over Tennessee & Louisville also makes any high school player take notice.

Doesn't hurt having one of the most fertile states for WBB recruiting. Not many programs could fill their roster with local girls and win 20+ every year.

Idk how many of you follow HS Bball, but the state tourney is well worth the price of admission for all the college talent you'll see
