BASEBALL Make the call, Massaro

Unfortunately better chance of no change than Bragga coming here.

He did apply for La Tech job in 2016. So, he’s not completely attached to TTU.

Seriously, what are odds of a contract extension after this past 3 year run?

He's probably going to end up at a P5 next year. Have to wonder if we could even get him now.

Rick, I believe he has benefitted from learning on the job - spending most of his coaching career as a head coach. I'm not sure he has a lot of elite players. Just knows how to get them in the right situation and play the game right. He played at Kentucky and has his masters from Alabama. He will eventually end up in the SEC - probably sooner than later.

If there is any knock on him it's going to be the same thing that Mags has struggled with and that's being able to hire and retain a competent pitching coach. It's not his fortay so he needs a good one. Tech hasn't exactly shut down (even weaker OVC). They have just out slugged the hell out of everyone. That doesn't work in C-USA. The pitching staffs/weekend rotations of the top teams are too good. Though Tech's pitching staff still ranks #1 in the league it's not really saying much as it's not exactly a good pitchers league - as evidenced by the top staff in the league hovering around an 5 ERA. For a reference point, over half of the teams in C-USA have a better ERA than Tech. As for Mags, he was never able to find a viable replacement when Skylar Meade left and our pitching staff has basically been in a state of disarray for four years.
