FOOTBALL Let's talk some ball/starting lineups

What are they talking about, "disappointment"???? Anyone this side of totally deranged/bat-sh*t crazy doesn't have any expectation of a conference title. Not from this coach, not from this program. We 'compete' we do not play for Championships.
A buddy and I were talking about this just last weekend. If there is any year that Stock should win a Champ, it's this year. The same 13 opponents have been in CUSA since 2017. (Since no UAB for two yrs before). This year only 4 of those remain, three of which have a combined record of 31-65 the last three years. Then there are 2 first year FBS teams, then 1 with a new head coach, and 1 with a second year coach that just had their first winning season in five years.

That leaves us and WKU, yet not a single pre-season guide/article has us picked to win. That speaks volumes.

Don't forget, we got smoked last year by JMU, also a 1st year FBS team.

The main difference between us and most "top tier" FCS teams is scholarships. With the Covid year and extra scholarships that is not the case. JMU had a full FBS sized roster of scholarship players. SHSU redshirted some of their players to get ready for the move up and JSU will also have the same amount or close to the same amount of scholarship players. These are not your normal FCS to FBS transition teams.

100% true. But from a general public and optics perspective though, it looks REALLY bad to not only lose to a transition team, (whipped like last year especially) but for them to be picked ahead of us. Most don't know about scholarships and all ESPN mentions when doing scores at halftime is that "first year FBS team JMU put a hurting on Middle Tennessee today".

Let's hope the same thing doesn't happen this year.

With the O line we had last year it’s a minor miracle we won 8 games. This year it’s either put up or shut up and leave .
