Oh, man. I hadn't heard. That's sad and too young to go.

Oh boy. Where do I begin? I was about to leave the hotel room in NOLA to head to the ULL game and scared the daylights out of the maid who was at my door (While I was "Gameday Ready"). I don't think English was her first language, I didn't understand a word she said, but we both got a big laugh out of that.
Went to a ULM game with the wife. We came back and won the game with a kick off or punt return. They had scored and those nasty folks were grabbing there crotches and were say we suck. Then we ran it back. Awesome win. Joe Craddock was our QB. His mom was sitting with us saying that these people are nasty. They had smeared excrement all over the walls of the away fans mens room. Now that’s sick.
Yeah, it’s me guys. You’re going to hate me, but I of moved on from the whole schtick, will catch a game here and there though. Does anybody even wear face paint anymore?? If so, I never see them when I go. I absolutely loved decking out, it would make my day when other folks would take pictures with me or what not. I’ve kind of grown out of it though, I sort of believe that dressing up to that level needs to be done by the students (I mean absolutely no offense to any alumni who does that, but like I said, I’ve never seen anyone).
Anyway, I randomly thought about you guys, I wanted to say I love ya. Not to get weird, but you guys helped me a lot though a difficult time, mostly my dad was terminally ill at the time and passed away shortly after I graduated, on top of having a bit of social stress in college. I had a lot of memories going to games with him, he’d get the biggest kick out of me, lol. Going back to our games now helps me remember him. Anyway, hope everyone’s doing okay.
Great to hear stories like this. I feel like you should break it out one day for old times sake.Yeah, it’s me guys. That’s awesome! The way I see it, Halloween costumes are way too expensive to only wear one time!! I’m all for getting as much use as you can out of them, lol.Best we did was dress up for Halloween and went to the game. We had a lumberjack, two zombies, fisherman, park ranger, the purge and big foot. That was a lot of fun talking trash to the Southern Miss team in those outfits lol.
We certainly don't hate you, Scary. The vast majority of us have moved on from MT athletics as well. Good to see you here on the board, buddy.Yeah, it’s me guys. I certainly remember Scary Raider and have many fond memories of my grandkids running up to you for a pic. Also, fond memories of you scaring the hell out of them and them running away.Scary - Along with the expanded tailgating, larger facility, increased media coverage (at the time), tailgating radio broadcasts (two different shows on two stations at one time IIRC) and overall excitement around the FB program you dressed as Scary Raider was one of factors that convinced me the MT athletic program had arrived.
Those early years of D-1 FB were exciting - you were a significant part of that.
Oh boy! Sorry for scaring the grandkids! Certainly wasn’t my intent (at least I think it wasn’t? Lol). Thanks for the kind words. Starting to feel old over here reminiscing about the good ole days, lol.I certainly remember Scary Raider and have many fond memories of my grandkids running up to you for a pic. You were an intrical part of the game day experience while you were there.
After sitting thru several games in the current state of affairs, I‘ve often asked my crew, “Where’s Scary Raider when you need him”.
You have been missed my friend. Lots of luck to you!

Weren’t you the guy who banned me from BRZ before it blew up??? 😂😂😂None of my stories are as funny from a full program perspective, but one that stands out...
Myself and one of the other younger old timers(we're both approaching 40) that were mods on BRZ when we were students a decade and a half ago were at a FAU game at Lockhart. He was 20 at the time and just a month or two from turning 21 and was trying to take it easy at the tailgate. One former Blue Raider tight end whose father was particularly enthusiastic at tailgates kept trying to give my buddy a beer and he finally relented. Within five minutes of him taking a beer, a literal ATF patrol came around and saw him subtly try to pass me his beer. He got ticketed for underage consumption and the officer made sure to include "Keystone Light" on his ticket adding insult to injury.
If memory serves, a collection was taken for him at the tailgate to pay the fine.
I was living in JAX at the time, so every game was a road trip for me. I pulled in to Lockhart and immediately saw a Jeep flying a Blue Raider flag. A couple BR fans from Tampa allowed me to hang with them and the tailgate grew rather large from there. Wish I could remember the kids name, but he took it all in stride. I pitched in to help pay the fine. I used to run into him from time to time at games. Bet he is pretty successful today.None of my stories are as funny from a full program perspective, but one that stands out...

😂😂😂. I can see that.Anyone there when UL-Monroe QB Steven Jyles almost came into the stands ?
It was yours truly he wasn't happy with. Had been egging him all game, then he tossed an INT to our great Dennis Burke and that ended their chance of a come back.
When he came to the sidelines I had to let him hear about. Afterall, he just lost the game for his team. He very nearly made his way into the stands if it wasn't for several teammates restraining him.
I'm the same way. I had a lot of memories going to MT football games with my dad too. The last thing we did outside of the holidays was go to a MT football game, so I enjoy going to games for that reason too. It reminds me of our last outing. That's another reason why I hate to see the state of our program, and want to see it turn around so bad.I had a lot of memories going to games with him, he’d get the biggest kick out of me, lol. The wife and I were at that game. Sat on the sunny side to try and stay warm. IIRC, the big lineman tore up the visitors locker room pretty good too! I really thought he was going to hurt that ref!!https://usustatesman.com/utah-state-gridders-feeling-blue-after-loss-at-middle-tennessee/
In 2002, we played Utah State at home. It was frigid for a December game as I remember.
In the fourth quarter, it got a little WWE like where two lineman for Utah state went on a rage.
Thr first incident happened in the fourth quarter where a big ole Utah state lineman picked up a flag and threw it at the ref, probably saying every obscenity in the book. He got a police escort off of the field to the locker room.
Play right after, there was some personal fouls on both teams and another big ole lineman came off the field giving us the birds.
Hilarious.
