BASKETBALL Conference USA blundered...

Agreed. As someone else said, a complete idiot could've negotiated a better contract than what we currently have. So what does that tell you of CUSA's current leadership?

I have enjoyed the facebook broadcasts but not having this on television seems like they are lost on where to go with tv.

You would think though that even with the current TV deal, arrangements could have been made to show it with one of our partners. They move games all the time based on how the season is progressing. The goobers in the CUSA office knew this game was big for the conference and should have done everything they could to use that to leverage publicity for the league. Shouldn't be surprised though.

The writer does bring up some good points though on the tournament that we have discussed here in the past as well. Again, it all falls on deaf ears to those in the conference with the power.

Seems like the dissatisfaction with the league leadership is pretty widespread. In my opinion, the current conference commish is doing an appalling job. It seems like things will likely go further down hill. C-USA has a good brand. A new commish will likely be needed fairly soon or the conference brand could really take a beating.

Overall, the conference may not be at it's highest level as in past years with multiple programs garnering national attention. The current conference membership does seem to have some good potential. Heck, in football the FxU teams had been the conference's weakness. After two new coaches and one season, the two generally worst programs in football jumped all the way to the top of the conference. UAB is having a resurgence with new heavy investment. And those are just a few who happened to be a weakness in C-USA football in recent years. In bball, the conference is trending upward especially compared to last season's dismal outing. The top 4 or 5 teams are all competitive teams. Two of the struggling programs are replacing their HCs. With those two programs facilities and history of success, those programs could be pushing to the top of the conference in short order.

In general, the conference may have needed a couple of seasons to sort out some kinks. The conference leadership probably deserves similar time to work out some kinks. The thing is, it's getting to be about two years into declining leadership at the top. Hopefully a change will soon be made before the damage becomes more substantive and requiring more years to correct.
