If my recollection is correct, we still have to fill the WR and RB positions. I saw the Tony Franklin handled OC, QB, and RB coaching in the last year at Cal. I wonder if we do not fill one of the RB or WR coaching positions to allow us to pay Tony more than we would have normally?

Also, I know that Pierre Ingram has been suggested as WR coach but I wanted to throw out another former Raider for the RB coach position... How about Philip Tanner? He played under Franklin his senior year in 2009. He would be familiar with his system and Franklin could mold him the way he wanted him to coach his RB's.

I like the idea of Tanner. I know he worked for MT at some level before but I think it was BRAA not the team. Here is my one issue: Is he done trying to play? Because, and I could be wrong, but I believe he came here to work while waiting for people to get hurt and maybe catch on to a roster. IIRC he got the call and was gone. That's was fine for what he was doing at the time. For RB coach not so much. He could really open up Texas recruiting having played HS ball there and having played for the Cowboys. Worth a look.

Tanner GA'd with the football team during MT's 2015 spring practice but was not a GA for the 2015 season

My understanding he was offered a high school head coaching position back in Texas and left to coach high school. But I may be wrong about that. He was not just waiting to "catch on" somewhere else. His playing days are over.

Played his collegiate ball at Florida State before spending three years in the NFL for the Detroit Lions. Definitely knows the position.

He's been a receivers coach in the CFL since 2012 with Toronto and Edmonton.

Before making the jump to college (Bethel) and CFL, he was a HS coach in Florida. IMO, I don't think MT recruits Florida enough and McCorvey's relationships in the region should help MT nab a few more prospects from the Sunshine State in the future.

Him and Kanell were like Montana and Rice. His player dev skills will make Richie even better not to mention the 3-5 Florida WRs we are bringing in next week. Like whoa! We are gonna be loaded!
