Team total bets will likely be as follows:
CSU over/under 32 points
MT over/under 24.5 points
I think it will be feast or famine personally. We either win or lose by 20, and we score either 30 points or 10.
As I've said all off-season, this team will go as far as the offense takes it. Defense and special teams are good enough to win some games, but the offensive line has to play better or it'll be a futile effort. They need to find a LT, I don't think Porcher is it. Interior linemen also didn't play particularly well either. The size is there but where is the strength, athleticism, and grit? coaching is also a big issue on the OL as it has always been. JMU destroyed us with their pressure looks because we clearly had not practiced against it. CSU is 100% going to test us early in the game and bring pressure to see if our OL has improved at all.
For the season, I believe this is unfortunately a situation that will likely mirror nearly every previous season. Play awful for the first half of the year, then down the stretch our coaches finally figure out who can play where and what plays to call so we win a few games in late November/December against the weaker opponents. Our lack of success early in the season, every season, is such a red flag and indictment on our poor coaches (Specifically, our OL and DL coaches who have been eating for free for far too long...). It is baffling it's been allowed to go on this long without at least the position coaches being replaced. Stockstill just simply refuses to fire his buddies, West, Polly, and Mallory...
...
Finally, once the season ends, anyone who played well graduates or transfers out, and we are back to square one in 2023 getting shelled in Week 1 and the first half of the season.
I hate to be so negative, but this team and program have been pretty terrible since Brent graduated and there's zero sign that is changing any time soon. I just don't see how this team and program ever become respectable with Stockstill at the helm.
