12-20-86: In Huntington, WV, the Raiders (5-1) lost 87-85 to Marshall. Chris Rainey hit a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left to tie the game, but Marshall scored with 2 seconds remaining to win. Andrew Tunstill led MT with 20 points.
12-22-86: In Murfreesboro, the Raiders (6-1) beat Arkansas-Little Rock 66-63. MT led by 10 points at halftime and hung on to win. Randy Henry led MT in scoring with 18 points and in rebounding with 10.
The OVC forced Tennessee State to forfeit it's 7-6 win over MT in the 1986 football season, for using an ineligible player. Coach Boots Donnelly refused to accept the win.

12-21-76: In Louisville, KY, the Raiders (6-1) beat Bellarmine 75-70. MT led 45-24 at the half, and held on for the win. Greg Joyner led MT with 22 points.

12-19-66: In Louisville, KY, the Raiders (4-2) overcame an 11-point deficit, to beat Austin Peay 71-70, in the 1st round of the OVC Holiday Tournament. Willie Brown led MT with 21 points and Ed Cannon was 5 for 5 on free throws in the final minutes.
