dnj,

excerpt:

...Renditions of an indoor practice facility were on display at a Blue Raiders Athletic Association event earlier this month. Why?

McCluney:
Those were actually some old drawings that had been around the department for a while, but we decided to pull those out because if it's not in people's faces and people don't see it, then they don't believe it's real or something that we're discussing to make happen.

We have identified that as priority No. 1. It is on our board. The higher-ups across campus know that that's what we're interested in doing. We're going to build a plan going forward with that. The plan is not in place right now, but we are in meetings to discuss the feasibility and how we move forward with making that happen.

We've got to do that. That's just something we've got to do to stay competitive from a recruiting standpoint.

We're looking at different options. Is it a multi-use facility? Will that facility have a track? But we don't have answers to all those questions right now. Over the next few months, hopefully, we will begin to get some clarity and that will be a clearer picture.....

Did the DNJ really ask the guy if being an African American is effecting his ability to do the job?

I am at a loss.

yeah, that was stupid. Maybe he should have responded 'maybe you should ask my university President McPhee that'

Don't know why Borthick thought the query would be appropriate or necessary to the interview. Really bad taste, IMHO, to bring up. Would like to think most journalists would be color-blind unless specifically reporting on racial issues.

Let's not put our heads in the sand. We have several donors that make the question in bounds. You're kidding yourself if you think we don't. I would venture to guess that most programs in the south have a few. Doesn't sound like it will hold him back.

Come on, man.

yes, I am sure there are some donors who are racist. But they VAST majority are not; therefore, in 2015 it was a ridiculous question.
