amazing that if both James and Ward get the call, it would be the first time since MT went 1A back in the late 90s that more than one Blue Raider was drafted...doesn't say much about this staff or the previous one for that matter...especially when the dnj says it happened numerous times since the 1950s...

...In 1993, the Browns took MTSU linebacker Mike Caldwell in the third round, and the Chargers scooped up wide receiver Walter Dunson two rounds later. MTSU had two players selected in the same year only six times before that (1992, 1976, 1973, 1958, 1957, 1956).

Mock drafts indicate the two Blue Raiders would likely be taken on Saturday, the third day of the draft that features rounds four through seven.....

And the draft is only 7 rounds now... With much improved NFL scouting, and improved quality of college football, having two players drafted is a good sign for the program

More like an anomaly for this program. Happens almost every year for programs like tech, Marshall, WKU ect.

While UTSA and UTEP will have first round picks.
Those players are anomalies. Both teams are bad/mediocre programs.

If these players were from wku, marshall or fau then we could point to outstanding recruiting that has led to championships and first round draft choices.

Listening to the cowboys draft show it was just reported that wku QB Mike White was a major reason for their success on offense last year as the players weren't buying into the new coaching staff and he took control.

Hearing that, it really makes me wonder how successful wku will be this year

I completely agree with you Wiley. It made little to no sense why he did it but I guess he had an agent feeding him a line that made it hard to turn down I guess.

Congrats to Richie. Huge accomplishment to get drafted in any round. He made the decision he felt was the best. Can’t fault him for that. Hope he has a great career and sticks around for many years.

While Richie James has incredible football skills, intelligence, and overall ability, he already had size working against him with the NFL. Right or wrong, you know most to all NFL teams put a premium on the measurables particularly size. Coming out a year early especially after an injury riddled season was highly questionable. If Richie James had another stellar season, then coming out a year early would have at least made more sense. Who knows, he may have been able to get picked up in the 4th or 5th round. Going into the 7th round with a few quality WRs still on the board sure did not look promising for the young Blue Raider. In the end, good for him in that he was drafted. Hopefully he will make the roster.

It seems like every couple/few years the Cowboys are looking to give a Blue Raider or two a chance to try to make the roster. Perhaps a Cowboys scout or two keeps an eye on MT players.
