MT's offensive staff put on a short RPO clinic tonight. Based on the clinic, it looks like Dearmon will find a way to effectively use RBs Pettaway and Rasul...and the WR depth could make this offense pretty explosive.

Dearmon's offense will use multiple formations AND personnel groupings while still keeping things simple and running with tempo.

The coaches have already gone through the offense 5 times and will install the offense (on the field) starting with spring ball.

After listening to him in that interview, he really impressed the heck out of me. I love how he had each position coach learn the same language and would have each coach draw up the offense no matter what coach they were. (WR, OL, RB, etc. Basically he's made it so universal that every offensive coach could be the OC. That's how well they have had to learn the new system and language. That ensures great communication which gets everyone on the same page. wTF definitely did not do that. This past year, he divided the caoches and players more than he united them. Dearmon has more of a youthful energetic approach. I gotta admit, I like the dude.

Dearmon seems to be more multiple. You'll see 11 personnel, 12 personnel, and 21 personnel. You'll see an attached TE (sometimes even with an H-Back), you'll see 3 WR set with a H-back to provide physicality to downhill rushing attack. And you'll even see some 2 TE sets.
As a football coach once said :

"Formations are cheap. Plays are expensive."

And they can run EVERY run play out of EVERY major personnel grouping they'll use. So it'll be harder on defenses.

By comparison, TF's offense operated largely out of two formations (2x2 and 3x1) and one personnel grouping (10 : 1 RB, 4 WR). As is his custom, TF did have a couple of "change up" formations and personnel groupings (11 personnel) with a H-Back. Memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think TF did use 21 and 12 personnel a handful of times in 2019 / 2020.

LOVE IT. Maybe he'll sell me on this RPO stuff. I'm an old huddle hide a ball dude. LOL.
