All of the difficulties can't be blamed on a lack of Sims, but it sure does appear that Sims absence was a large factor. Sims is the QB that drives the squad. That much has appeared to be the case for almost 2 months.

For Green's effort and tenacity to go along with his scoring potential, it's games like this without Sims that magnifies Green's lack of flow in the offense and good shot selection. Next year when there are more scorers' playing, perhaps that reduced pressure will allow Green to refine his overall game.

Farquhar just hasn't improved as much this season as hoped. He appeared to have some good potential from those games early in the season. For such a rough start early in the game, he finished the game with decent numbers for a backup PG freshman. I'm still amazed that MT ended up with more Assts than TOs.

Unfortunately, no one else on the team stepped up to help fill the void left by Sims. With only 7 players in the rotation, losing even 1 player leaves only 6 regular players available. And that with refs racking up the fouls on MT. I didn't see the game, but it is frustrating to see a final foul count with that much disparity.

Hopefully Sims can bounce back and be healthy to play these remaining few games. If Sims is healthy and the team plays well as they are certainly capable, then just maybe MT could finish the season strong with a win or two in the C-USA tourney. It would be nice for the team to have a little momentum going into the offseason as they prepare for next year when the roster will start to resemble a more normal size.
