Seriously? The guy was 10-2 this year, hasn’t posted a losing season in 9 years and has a .622 winning pct. “competing” in the Big 10 (sorry, no pun intended). MTSU is not a career destination for coaches to retire (or at least it shouldn’t be).Curious to hear your opinion on if Iowa should move on from their coach? Obviously they are having a good year but I know their fans are mixed about it because he will post a good year every few years to save his job (this year). He has done better than Rick but he also has higher expectations at Iowa.
I am not sure I would given that there isn't anyone that would take the job that would do better. He averages around 8 wins a year in Iowa. His record is 178-108, but he has not won a conference title since 2004 and has only been to two conference championship games since then. Only way I move on from Ferentz is if I think (know) I can get someone like an Urban Meyer. I am sure it is frustrating for the fan base to be at a level of "almost" being good enough, but you see what happened to Nebraska when they got rid of their 9-wins a year coach.Curious to hear your opinion on if Iowa should move on from their coach? My point is he is consistent but cannot get over the hump. Sure that “hump” is on average an 8 or 9 win season but they still underperform. Their division is REALLY weak and has been for years. They schedule a very soft OOC every year. On paper it looks nice but when they start the season with an FCS and a low G5 they already have 2 wins there. Then you add in Iowa St and you’ve got another win most years. Name the best team they’ve beaten this year (8-4 Minnesota or 7-5 Penn St)? They are pretty much exactly what we are with a P5 branding. I’ve said for a long time that it’s time for a change but that’s because the fans have lost interest. Rick has done okay but failing to do enough for the majority of fans is the difference.Seriously? They have to get past Wisconsin in their division that’s it. Ohio St and Michigan are in the other division along with Penn St and Michigan St. Hayden Fry actually posted the same winning percentage for a long time prior to Kirk. They are at worst the third best brand in their division. We were easily behind Marshall, FAU, UAB, LT and USM for brand recognition in our conference. WKU and UTEP were likely ahead of us too. We can agree to disagree but the grass isn’t always greener. MTSU has a long ways to go before being able to lure a good coach. Facilities are a great start.Dude. I’m pretty sure winning the Big Ten in the shadow of Ohio St and Michigan is hardly the same thing. Those brands vs the Iowa brand isn’t even remotely the same as the delta between our place in the world and wkcc or UAB. Come on man. And that’s before you also include Mich St, Wisconsin, etc. Few could do what he’s done in that league. Seriously. Think about it.
Sooner fans will not experience this at all. If anything their recruiting will improve when they go to the SEC. Texas A&M's conference record their first 9 years in SEC is better than their last 9 years in the Big 12. If moving to the SEC improved their recruiting, I assume OU's won't be hurt. Riley is not the reason the recruiting was what it is. OU is a top 5 program of all time and very close to Texas recruits. To even put them in the same category as Iowa or Nebraska is laughable.Every school's fans want to win at the highest level, also every school has unrealistic fans. The Hawkeye fans I know realize Iowa's inherent recruiting disadvantage in FB and BkB compared to some, if not most, of the competition. (something Husker fans are coming to realize and Sooner fans could soon see)
IMHO the large majority of Iowa fans are very happy with both Ferentz and McCaffery. They will be in Iowa City for as long as they wish.
Texas A&M also went through a plethora of coaches till getting Jimbo. Much like Bama before Saban.Sooner fans will not experience this at all. Jimbo was not there the first 6 or 7 seasons in the SEC and is not the reason for improvement. In fact he is not doing as well as Sumlin did.Texas A&M also went through a plethora of coaches till getting Jimbo. Much like Bama before Saban.

Not wanting to start a pi--ing contest but I was referring to the potential for a program based on their location as it relates to population and the makeup of that population. I do agree that OU is closer to a fertile recruiting area than either Iowa or Nebraska. You think OU will be a power in the $EC and their recruiting will improve; perhaps. That's OK. I think they will be competitive but struggle to excel. JMHO. As for your opinion that Oklahoma is a "top 5 program of all time" yet you dismiss a comparison to Nebraska as laughable. A cursory look at records of OU and Nebraska in the Big 8 and Big 12 from the time I started keeping up (70s - 80s) shows a comparable number of conference and national championships. Until recently with Nebraska's Big10 struggles (lost 9 games this year - largest margin of loss; 9 - they haven't learned how to win under Frost) I have considered the two schools very similar even though Oklahoma has almost twice Nebraska's population. (OU does have OSU for competition, Nebraska has no in-state D-1 competition)Sooner fans will not experience this at all. If anything their recruiting will improve when they go to the SEC.
