Principal Bill Tollett removed the interim tag from Floyd Walker on Monday, making him Eagleville's third head football coach in the program's 12-year history.

Walker, a former MTSU and Eagleville assistant, replaces Steve Carson, who was fired as coach after eight seasons and seven straight playoff appearances.

He's been on Eagleville's coaching staff since 2010 and has coached wide receivers, quarterbacks and defensive backs in his tenure at the Rutherford County rural school.

Tollett said the rest of the coaching staff has committed to coming back this year. That includes former MTSU assistant Tom Fiveash, Eagleville defensive coordinator Kent Pippenger, Alex Roberts and Billy Spann.

"He's just real enthusiastic and a real fun guy to be around," Tollett said of Walker. "He is a favorite among the other teachers and students, and he works well with other coaches."

Walker said he will remain the school's track and field coach.
