I remember yrs ago they used to relay a torch from M'boro to Nashville for the Vandy/MT game. Do they still do this?

The last time we did that one of the runners carrying the torch was a bit too fanatical about his hair. Used way more hairspray than what a man should use. He made it probably about a mile and a half when a heavy wind came in from the west. This fella was unfortunately left handed. Flame met hairspray and his head went up in a fiery blaze. There was a huge argument between the two schools about which school he was actually associated with. A spokesman from each school claimed that this man was not associated with their respected school. All Gore who taught at MTSU got involved and somehow this entire disagreement turned political and social disputes erupted among the two schools. They argued about everything: Harry Truman, Doris Day, Red China, Johnnie Ray South Pacific, Walter Winchell, Joe DiMaggio Joe McCarthy, Richard Nixon, Studebaker, television
North Korea, South Korea, Marilyn Monroe
Rosenbergs, H-bomb, Sugar Ray, Panmunjom Brando, "The King and I" and "The Catcher in the Rye".
Neither side could agree about anything. This eventually led to Billy Joel writing a hit song about this verbal exchange of the two schools.

IIRC the "Run" was a charity event of some kind and was started by MT (Greeks?).

Gotta think that the VU student body is either not very charitable or their students, being at such an academically challenging institution, will be studying in the library up until the last minute (if they are coming to the game at all).
