BASKETBALL Anyone else gonna watch Kermit v. Cal tonight?

Quite a few good games on tonight but I doubt this will be one of them if Ole Miss's loss against the undermanned team on West End on Sat. is any indication. Loss probably eliminated Kermit from an at-large bid this year.
I haven't been keeping up but in watching them play it appears that Davis, Hamilton, Case, etc. are having a hard time landing the players necessary to be competitive at the top of the $EC. For sure Davis won't get a decade to find his groove but at least from his perspective he will be able to retire earlier and with a better nest egg than if he had stayed at MT until forced retirement.

I just watched the end of the Arkansas curb stomping of South Carolina. The Hogs are back. And I’m sorry if it offends anyone that I’m not discussing Blue Raiders or CUSA Basketball but there is absolutely nothing to discuss except for WKU but even they lost by 24 to Houston last week.

Nothing wrong with living vicariously through other teams right now. I mean, look at our athletics programs. We don't even look like we belong in Division 1 athletics.

Before grad school, Ole Miss never bothered me. Living in Mississippi for 6 years and dealing with their fans.....I now prefer Vandy fans. Kermit sold his soul for the dollar. He is forever stained and I hope he fails miserably. GTHOM!
The 1-3-1 strikes again! But I doubt that even should he exact revenge on the Dores this weekend Kermit will sneak in the NCAA. Kinda ironic that one reason for going to a "power" conference was that one bad loss wouldn't keep you out of The Dance and now the loss to VU could do just that to Ole Miss this year.
Speaking of the team on West End. They, as have several teams, scheduled a late non-conference game during this unusual season (at Cincinnati tomorrow night). Wonder if MT has approached, or been approached, for such a contest since we have lots of games missed. Gotta think playing additional games couldn't hurt since it appears extended practice isn't showing much improvement.

Yeah, nothing against Kermit personally, but I want Ole Miss to lose by 1,000 every game. If that makes me a bad fan, oh well. I was/am a fan of the MT men's basketball team. My allegiance didn't head south to Oxford.
It gave me satisfaction to watch Cal’s freshman one and done phenoms struggle with Kermit’s defense. 😂😂
College athletics is supposed to be non-profit yet the power conferences do everything they can to snatch dollars from the rest... I hate them ALL and refuse to watch any power conference team.
Watching that 1-3-1 shut down Knoxville Correctional last week gave me flashbacks to a particularly satisfying NIT win. I will say, IF Ole Miss makes the tournament, I dang sure wouldn't want to play them.
And just an FYI, KJ Buffen had a double double last night. Makes you sick to think about what that class could have done in C-USA play. We were so close to being the next Witchita St....ugh. Yeah, I'm still bitter.

Something I was wondering.....Is there another team in the country that has as much "star talent" as we do that's ranked 300+ RPI?
From a recruit rating standpoint, I don't think we've ever had this many 3 and 4 star kids on our roster. We've also never been remotely this bad before. Not a good look for McDevitt....
I've been keeping up with MT BkB recruiting since before the rating services began and IMHO we have never five players rated by some service higher than 2+. I could be wrong but I don't remember over one player on the squad above a 2.7 at any one time.
Either we have five players each of whom was over-rated or the staff can't coach - It is as simple as that.
As for not watching "power" schools because of the ever increasing disparity in funding. I get it; it's unfair and schools like MT are getting left behind. I personally won't watch the FB faux national championship three game series for a similar reason. But, I love college BkB and as long as my school is a D-1 school and has the potential to reach the tournament I will continue to watch games of interest.
As for my feelings about Kermit Davis: It's complicated. I appreciate what he did in bringing me the most enjoyable run in the 50 +/- years of being a MT BkB fan. I wish he was more loyal to the school which gave him a chance after NCAA troubles and almost a decade to find anything above moderate success. But, as I said it's complicated. Had I had a chance with only a few good years left to get a job which would change my families' long-term prosperity I think I would have taken it, wouldn't you? My biggest beef, which IMHO is a character issue, is in signing the two players who had previously signed with MT. But, again, he's not the only coach to have taken players with him when changing jobs.
As for as Ole Miss's or Kermit's success or failure, couldn't care less, but I do enjoy watching his teams intensity and defense; change the uniforms and it could be one of his MT squads.
