MTSU has landed Houston transfer safety Juwon Gaston. Has been an important part of their safety rotation for the last two years before stepping away to preserve redshirt for the transfer portal this season. Started two conference games in the 2023 season.

This would have been a big deal regardless due to the production against P4 talent. But with Xavier Williams transferring to Cincinnati, this allows MTSU to not skip a beat and potentially upgrade at the safety position.

Seems like a good get. We need those DBs. I've said 100 times that the defensive back 7 was the part of the team that killed us last year.

Any chance you guys who are more in tune with the comings and goings can come up with an early DB depth chart?

This is very loose but kind of an idea. TBD what happens with the nickel position as it was not that great last year with Ferrell/Monds. Also Gaston and Harris have both been strong safeties historically so that could cause some shifting along the secondary.
