Another pimping

Who knows what ours and their team will look like in 2020. I will venture to say both will have new head coaches.
Gotta pay the bills.

It is the same style of scheduling that Andy had. For some reason, Andy failed after 2001 until his firing and blamed everything except his coaching.

I hope that Stock is successful in attracting athletes that want t play name teams while keeping a somewhat competitive record.

I just remember that game in 2001. Every freaking time MT made a big play, a flag would find it's way out of one the officials' pockets. Also remember Dwone Hicks pulling up lame and limping out of bounds within ten or twenty yards of the goal line with no reb defender within ten yards of him.

I remember that game. In fact, I think we sat together that day.

Man, I don't understand you guys. I think this is a brilliant game to schedule. Ole Miss is under so much scrutiny with the ongoing investigations that they will eventually suffer down the road for this. 2020 could very well be a down year. Big paycheck with a decent chance to win is a brilliant move in my book. In my opinion that is not pimping.....that is smart scheduling.

We are what we are. We already play a cupcake schedule in CUSA, so why not schedule some tough opponents? We've tried the Boise State approach and we didn't get the job done. It's time to get back to traditional scheduling and playing these big name schools. Who knows, maybe we can win a few. A blind squirrel still finds a nut on occasion, right?

The best season we've enjoyed as a FBS school was 2009 yet we still lost 27-6 at home to a 5-7 Miss St. team.

Wiley is right. It is what it is and we are what we are.

I remember that game too...Homecoming 2001. We started calling it "Homecooking 2001".

If you remember that game, Honeycutt and some others didn't play because of a party where underage drinking went down and they got caught. Dasher was also suspended for the first quarter for missing a practice. We got to their 1 yard line twice and couldn't punch it in. (sound familiar?) We also threw 4 picks in their territory. The score was worse than the effort despite not having some key players. That was Mullins first season. We played them much tighter the year before.

We also beat Maryland that year and a really good USM team. You play the games and you don't run the other way. Memphis got their a$$es kicked plenty but they still played the tough games too. It's what you do.

I'll be going to that game.

cipman2000, Heck Yes!!! I could not agree more. We're not in the SEC and we get clowned. We play 3 SEC east games next season and some of our fans are saying that it's not fair. Really? You can recruit with that schedule. All 3 games are on either the SEC network or national TV. It's the big stage we want to be on. Watching us play Alabama A&M does nothing to help us and it reminds the casual fan why they think we don't matter. So schedule the big boys and duke it out. We may get our a$$ beat but we'll get better as a team when we play our conference slate. Let's go get it.

Totally agree! We will never get any respect unless we play the P5 teams and beat them. The only way we can beat them is if we play them. I could care less if we ever play another 1AA school again. I'm tired of going to bowl games and getting smoked because we padded our wins with 1AA schools. Let's earn it.

Personally, I like these games. The recent deviation to play a lighter schedule has not worked out. I do think that playing higher caliber teams from P5 conferences puts due pressure on the coaches. Total Wins per year may decrease by 1, 2, or more games.

I am just frustrated because as I am typing this, a "Always" maxipad commercial is playing in between my trending articles. And now, Venus razors....

I like seeing some of these good points made here in a few of these posts.

Judging by the attendance of home openers the last few years, it seems the general football attending public also has no interest in coming out to see MT play some of the worst FCS teams that can be found in the region. In my view, MT started to find those schools due to the fans' outrage over losses to run of the mill middling FCS programs from the FAU debacle to SEMO. I think it was the early season home embarrassment to McNeese St that finally had coach stock and/or Massaro make further scheduling adjustments. Those adjustments have always been suspect and irritating to me. The answer for MT football was not to make sure MT football improved to beat FCS teams at home, the answer was to find the most horrible teams to play that would make it almost impossible to lose the game.

It is widely and frequently stated how most players outside the P5 love to play the P5. Usual reasons given are that the players want to prove they are good enough or better, they want to beat the teams and coaches that overlooked them, and they want to win on the big stage. All of that seems to make sense. From many of these same reports, playing the P5 games are positives when recruiting. In regards to most players, it seems that they would be more than willing to play P5 teams.

Some smart scheduling still needs to be employed especially for G5 programs in playing P5 schools. Scheduling two top 5 type teams ooc will likely prove to be detrimental to your overall season. If it is possible, spread out over the season games vs P5. Starting the season on the road vs three straight P5 programs should be avoided especially if a couple of these teams are in the top 10. If you must schedule three P5 games early in the season, it would help if at least one is at home and/or at least one is vs a team at the bottom of their P5 conference who also pays really well.

We now live in Dallas and come back for a couple of games a year... Guess what.... We will come back most probably for Vandy and either the Homecoming or Western games. We are going to Minnesota this year... Could care less to see the 1AA games. All my friends and colleagues here in Dallas talk about Middle playing big games and know when they happen.. Playing the P5 Teams matters! Schedule, recruit, play & WIN!!! Break into the top 25 and continue to build a following.. 100k graduates in the area...Come on.. Winning and Great Bowl GAMES will bring in dollars... It's amazing how that works...

About 10 years ago there was an insurance company that I called fairly often. Their number was one digit different than a phone sex line. I remember female co-workers misdialing and then complaining/laughing about it on several occasions.

That said, I'm thinking that Freeze did a bit more than "misdial" a number

For years I use to get phone calls from people thinking they were calling a bail bonding company...

With Butch Davis and Lane Kiffen being hired by the FU's, C-USA could be a trendy landing spot for unethical coaches. I think we have the new lead candidate to replace Doc Holliday.

Who does Ole Miss get now this late in the game? Yikes. You know Bing Dukes wishes like heck he stayed true blue.

How does that blind side feel now Freezey?

The sad part of this is if he had redacted 1 more call, he is still their coach.

Houston Nutt sues and asks for phone records.

Steve Rosebowl Robertson goes through calls and finds the 30 sec escort call.

Releases info to USA Today, who publishes it.

Ole miss digs deeper and finds more calls on his WORK phone.

Those escorts were expensive . Whatever they charged hourly plus that 20 million salary he just lost.

And if OM didn't try to blame Nutt for their NCAA violations, he doesn't sue and ask for phone records to begin with.

Serious rumblings and rumors on other sites that the calls may be linked to "recruiting services." This may end up be Louisville-basketball like. Supposedly more news coming out in the next 48 hours. Not sure how credible this is, but we shall see....

If true....OM may not have enough scholarships to field a FBS team in 2020.

Then we will just take a buy out and go pimp ourselves to another school and wind up with more money. (I can see CM thinking this through now)
