Kevin Byard (S) : 3rd round
Rod Isaac (DB) : 5th round
Rich James (WR) : 7th round

Rick Stockstill, like Rick Insell, is not a good evaluator of 2 star talent and at this level a football coach must sign some two star players.

There was NO reason for Stockstill to ever be named head coach at MT

I’ve often wondered when reading Stock’s bio and job history why he never worked for FSU or Coach Bobby Bowden. Did he even GA anywhere before being hired as an assistant at Bethune-Cookman? He spent 14 consecutive years at Clemson working for Tommy West and Tommy Bowden. That’s unheard of for an up and coming college coach trying to build a resume and professional network. Now we’ve got West as a position coach after being fired twice as a HC and twice as a DC before coming to Murfreesboro.

I just don’t get it.

I get it perfectly. We’re Little Middle. It’s the way we operate.

I'll say it for the umpteenth time: There is a reason that this long-time assistant FB coach wasn't a head coach long before MT (Massaro) came calling.

Three years (14, 15, 16).

Like almost everything we do, it came down to $$$. IIRC, CM conducted the search for our new HC without utilizing a well known search firm. He was aiming pretty high with some well known coordinators. I distinctly recall he flew to Miami & interviewed Muschamp. All passed on the gig, and Stock was almost the last guy left. Pretty sure his first year starting salary was in the $175-200K range.

Stockstill was the right man for the job at the time. He came in here and did about as good as one could ask.

The problem is, he has received no support in terms of facilities since arriving 15 years ago. He's been set up to fail if you ask me. And it's only natural people get bored of the 6-6 and 7-5 seasons without ever having the best team in the conference.

Sometimes, you just need fresh blood for the sake of it. This might be one of those times.

Massaro at the very least needs to go. I wouldn't trust him to sell cookies to raise money for the girl scouts, much less fundraise for our athletic department.

I think he was one of many player that were just given a tryout. Since those players are never technically part of the roster, they're not cut after it's over. They just get sent home with the possibility of being invited back later.
