LADY RAIDER BB MIDDLE TENNESSEE (3-1) vs TENNESSEE TECH (4-0) Tuesday Nov. 19 6:30 pm Murphy Center, ESPN+

Old rival Tennessee Tech brings an unblemished 4-0 record into the Murphy Center Tuesday night. Tech's most impressive victory thus far has been a 48-46 road victory at Chattanooga. The Golden Eagles have a combination of youth & experience this year. Their team sports 5 freshmen & 6 upperclassmen.
While not the equivalent length of Middle Tennessee the Lady Techster's roster includes 5 players between 6' 0" & 6' 2" in overall height.
Looking at Tech's schedule MT will represent the Golden Eagles most difficult game thus far. They do have an upcoming road contest with Colorado which will be their loan Power 4 opponent.

As happens in games of this type, thought it was kind of sloppy. Shooting needs to improve as we seem very inconsistent. But glad to see him playing more players early in these types of games
Definitely the time to get the sloppiness out and corrected plus nerves taken care of. Experience on the bench will pay off later in the year.

BASKETBALL Middle Tennessee vs Murray State, 3PM, Saturday, November 16, 2024

So I can assume the Blue Raider folks showed up better than they did for the Evansville game? Like I said, didn’t watch this one on TV like Evansville.
Box score reported an attendance of 3,812 for Murray St game, & an attendance of 3,509 for Evansville.
After the next 4 road games will be Rhodes College on Dec. 4. Anticipate a slightly smaller crowd even with 3 or 4 added losses. Probably in the 3,000-3,250 range. Those attending are mostly tried & true season ticket holders. Money's already spent so why not get out for a couple hours.

BASKETBALL Middle Tennessee vs Murray State, 3PM, Saturday, November 16, 2024

Given that I have personally witnessed how well Murray St fans travel to Belmont, Nashville, and the conference tournaments in the OVC days, I would go out on a limb and say they probably outnumbered Blue Raider fans yesterday. I didn’t watch the game though as I was committed to another event yesterday evening.
They had a decent crowd but definitely didn’t outnumber MT fans.

I thought Jada had a great game also She can really shoot and the team ran smoothly while she was running the point.
If we get to play Tennessee again in the tournament I would like to see Jada & Courtney both on the floor together. Combining their ball handling skilks MT could turn UT's high pressure trapping against itself.

We beat them by 32, very good game AND we played the bench most of the game which was great to see - definitely hope the bench use continues. Jada Harrison had a fantastic game. Compare our win margin to #22 Alabama who won by 29 and Mississippi State who won by 28. Plus, their coach said we were the best team they had faced all year (at least defensively).

Night & day difference from the free throw line for Boldyreva & Blakely. Combined, both Boldyreva & Blakely finish 14-16 from the line. Considerable improvement from the other night in Knoxville. Of course much less pressure at home in Murphy Center.
Glad to see additional minutes for backups. Also glad there was no emotional hangover from UT game. Good sign of a mature team.
I believe we can learn from that loss, & have some solid performances in the upcoming holiday tournament.

I wasn't there for the game--had another commitment. These highlights speaks volumes about our MBB team; team started out fine, but didn't finish the job. See a few nice plays (and some winnable games) here and there, but not enough consistency to be at the upper echelon of C-USA play in March. It's not evident a NCAA or NIT appearance is forthcoming this year. OTOH, Murray State is in good form to be a contender whenever they start Missouri Valley Conference play. Not sure if the Racers make the dance since their conference is more competitive and a notch higher; I wouldn't count them out to make some noise.
