MT had a combined 212 yards rushing, led by 88 from Eugene Gross. Touchdowns were scored by Eugene Gross (2), Bobby Williams, DeMarco McNair and Desmond Gee. DB Phillip Tanner recorded his first career sack.
J.K. Sabb would be named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week. He forced a fumble on the 4th play of the game and finished with 8 tackles, 2 for loss, and 1 sack.

Jeff Shockley caught 2 touchdown passes from Mike Robinson, who also ran for a score. Robinson's 218 yards of total offense would earn make him the OVC Player of the Week.

MT was leading 13-9 in the 2nd half when, in a span of 4:06 of game-time, Billy Walker threw a 75 yard touchdown pass to Herb Owenby and 63 and 10 yard touchdown passes to Bob Hlodan. In the 1st half, MT had a touchdown run from Larry Mathews and a 70 yard punt return for a TD by Steve Edging. Billy Walker would be named OVC Player of the Week.
