Richie James

Good for him. What kind of money is he likely making now?

Glad to have another MT guy in the league.

After taxes and agent cut, probably looking at about 250k per year earnings in the bank. Save that money.

California taxes, San Francisco rent, ouch. He's really not doing that well (good for a 22 year old). Hopefully he is sharing rent with someone.

For most NFL players, it's the second contract where they earn the paycheck. But it's a paycheck most players never receive since the avg NFL career goes for 3-4 years.

and I would bet, Ward now being in KC, he has a better standard of living there than James in SF. At least Ward doesn't have to side step all the feces, needles, and garbage on the streets and sidewalks in SF.

I'n San Francisco - that's barely enough to buy a house.
Yeah, you wouldn't buy there. No way. You could rent an apt. on the other side of Berkley or the south side for decent. I'm sure he's rooming with another player or several players. That's how I'd do it. Either way, the commute is absolutely terrible. I lived in LA for 4 years and worked in Silicon valley for a while and yeah, I prefer TN.

Most NFL teams have someone, whose job is to help players find housing, banking, furniture, etc. They realize that this may be the first time these guys have had to do any of these things and need help.
