Punter Change

Awesome. Let's wait until we are 2-4 and out of the conference title hunt before addressing a glaring a problem......

with a better punter we might have won against Illinois and/or Vanderbilt....

Pretty much. It'll be interesting to see how Bonadies does. Is he demonstrably better? Marginally better? Any better? If not...

Message to Bonadies - You kept trying. Your efforts led to the opportunity you have today. Way to be persistent.
Message to Owens - Keep your head up. Keep trying. You're young. Got lots of time to improve.

And even if you are old and fail, keep trying too!

If we can't properly punt, then we should use that funky rugby style punt - anyone can do that.

I thought the difference between Bonadies and the previous starter was night and day. WTF? WTF took so long to put the best one on the field??? Just F'ing insane.

Oh and it is now nice to see a game where the center successfully snaps the ball to the QB as compared to earlier in the season where it was becoming routine to see a couple of bad snaps a game.

It's been plain ridiculous. New freshman punter avg 42 yds today. Even bigger, he didn't get blocked and give up a TD! It may not have been pretty, but he got the job done.

I don't understand how that took so long this season.

I haven't put a watch on it but he looked way slower getting the ball off. Hope I am wrong because we need the extra distance he gave us. Owens won the job but his distances went downhill as the season went on. I think he just got a case of the yips after the blocks which were protection issues not punter issues. Regardless the change needed to be made. Hope it works out but I worry that if MB didn't win the job to begin with we may still have a bumpy ride in store.

I disagree; punt that was blocked for TD at Illinois took too long. Watch both practice, Owens takes his time. You have to practice like you you are going to do it in the game. No time to do it by the numbers. Catch it and kick it.
