I've been looking all week for any indication of promotion/advertising for today's game. At 7 hours prior to tip-off I've seen or heard nothing from our athletic dept or Learfield sports promoting the game in the Newspaper, on TV, or on sports radio (must admit I could have missed it). Not living in Rutherford Co. I can't verify what might have been done in M'Boro. Also, as a season ticket holder and BRAA member I did receive e-mails so I assume other social media (free) has been used.

Regardless, the lack of any paid advertising/promotion alerts this fan to several possibilities:

> The athletic department doesn't have the vision to recognize the need and opportunity for promotion for this game
> All moneys allocated for advertising for this academic year have been expended (poor forethought not to have contingency funds)
> Learfield is not doing what it should be doing to promote the program [no better than Nelleigen (negligent) did] if I understand their role
> Neither the athletic dept. or Learfield have the connections to ad agencies who can create and purchase advertising on a moments notice.

I'm glad two articles from the DNJ (Mon. and today) were picked up in The Tennessean on this game but I'm extremely disappointed than apparently nothing has been done by the athletic dept. to use this game to grow the fan base through paid promotion/advertising.

It has been all over Twitter for at least a week. That is free advertising and reaches the vast majority of the target market. They were also giving away tickets on 104.5.

Well put. Folks on BRZ know I'm a broken record about this whole marketing system (failure) that we have in place. I agree with everything you said. I live in Mboro and saw little, only what I and others posted on FB and Twitter...

I should say what I have seen on Blue Raider Marketing on Twitter, etc. has been disappointing and that's putting it nicely. They just seem to be very indifferent about actually doing significant marketing.

I don't how you can judge results until we have results. I've had emails, it's been all over twtter, I've had alerts on facebooks. Let's see how that works out. Billboards and radio advertisements cost money but I've always had reservations about what, if anything, they do to improve attendance.

I'm sure if we have a real butts in seats of 7500, there will still be a question could it have been more. IMHO, I think the social media, email and the team/coaches talking to various groups are more effective. And in regards to the next game on Thursday. A big W on Sunday will do more than anything to bring any additional people back for wku.

The important distinction is the social media presence is almost entirely fan-based, which is fine but you need to have some from the athletics folks too. Email is good, but I am a big fan of making phone calls to supporters. That's what we did for Minnesota back a few years ago and got 10,500 in less than a week. I do think, though, that a win today will do as you say and bring people to WKU game.

Started this thread without reading all of my Sunday morning Tennessean. There was a 1/4 page add for the game (listing the games in the homestand) on page A-5. While the Sunday edition is, by far, the most read day of the week I would argue that the add was too little, too late (most people have already made Sunday plans), and in the wrong location (why not the sports page?).

Regardless, glad to see the school providing some promotion for the game.

And we don't even hit 8,000. Granted, the folks who did go were loud and energetic, but c'mon. It's a 5pm Sunday game, we have 100k+ alumni in middle TN and we can't even get 10,000 for a huge game? Sad. At least those who didn't go weren't able to witness our nuclear meltdown.

We probably had the biggest crowd of the year, not sure why you would expect 10K at this game. The first step is to understand where we are as program - when you look up at the rafters when was our last conference championship?

Yep. We are just not a championship winning program, and that hurts us.

This was my first time back in the Boro since the Vandy football game. The mascot was a no-show for a national TV broadcast, the student section had empty bleachers, concessions were totally inadequate (even for 7,500) and I was texted at halftime that the BRAA Room ran completely out of food and ice. Losing the game to a quality opponent is understandable.

The Athletic Dept. had an eight day break in the schedule to plan for and promote this event. Continuing to alienate donors and walk up customers over poor service and lack of planning is just bush league. I don't get it.

Wait, I thought everybody hated the mascot...Lots of people in the donor room which is a good problem IMO, but when I left with about 5 minutes left there was still drinks and food. I can't imagine anybody would complain either way. It's not like its a four course meal. It's a cookie. Man we find the tiniest crap to complain about. Now the game is another story...

That makes sense, and maybe the concession workers went with him, and the Mens team left at halftime to go find lightning. Its all coming together! Great thinking.

LMAO. At least I shelled out $17, $12 for the ticket and $5 for parking in Greenland. Maybe they don't need my hot dog money

I bet they hired the Titans Concession Team. They still want that hot dog money though, if one of those Usher Nazis catches you with so much as a breath mint or stick of gum they act like you smuggled Meth in there.
