BASKETBALL OK. What is the truth about Potts?

I'm guessing he has/had an incomplete in a class and he won't play until it is cleared up.

What is going on? In the dark as usual!
You do realize that our athletic department(or the University as a whole for that matter) is not legally allowed to release information about a student's academics. They have basically said all they can say.

I understand the legalities. As a Blue Raider fan that's not the problem. The issue is our small fan base combined with the miniscule media attention along with having no one with inside info posting on message boards. I guaran-damn-tee you if a similar concern surrounded the eligibility of a player at 99% of the "power" schools the reasons for the academic problem would be common knowledge.

I wonder why fans of Belmont and Auburn haven't picked up on the situation. It seems clear to me that if Potts is ineligible now he was probably ineligible when we beat both of them (after the end of the semester). Can you say forfeit? Lots of media attention then.

he was eligible at the time since the grades weren't posted and the semester had just ended, so there will be no forfeit or negative media attention

It is what it is. It's our alums fault. Who do you expect to get this info? Why aren't you getting it for us? I guess the starting point is more paid subscriptions here. The old scout site was good for it in the premium folder but not the public one. Most of the guys that had good inside info quit posting after the switch to BRZ. I guess they felt more comfortable behind the pay wall.

We won't be forfeiting any games. The grades weren't posted at the time of those games. Daryl does a good job. We will be fine.

PS I will probably see Daryl tonight at NYE party. I will see if I can get some of that good inside info for you.

Final grades weren't due until December 14th. Not out of the realm of possibility that he hadn't received all of his grades by the 17th when MT played Belmont.

I don't envision any issues coming of that. .

So what you are saying: Eligibility issues are not addressed until the date professors must have grades posted, not the final "official" day of the semester? I could accept that but it's not been my impression. I do know that would not work for TSSAA high school eligibility.

BTW a lot of the message board inside info is wrong so half the time you're better informed having heard nothing at all. Remember when the boards were melting down because one "insider" said we didn't even try to pitch CUSA or when his tailgaiting buddy said Bibee doesn't go out and recruit?Does knowing why he is suspended change your fan experience at all?

They get progress reports but they can be barely passing and fall below based on finals. There are plenty of professors who don't answer to beck and call of the AD. They will post grades when the university tells them to post grades.

Actually that's not completely true. In Rutherford county the semester ended December 19 but grades aren't due until Jan 5 so there could be a kid playing right now who won't be eligible next week.

Once upon a time, I taught at a few DI schools.

I filled out progress reports when the students asked for it in person. I never returned emails/calls about grades, simply because you can't verify if it really was an athlete, or if the person really had the athlete's permission to obtain grades.

Based on the fact they pulled Giddy the week after final grades were posted for the Fall semester, I would guess he either has an incomplete or is appealing a grade. He needs to complete 6 hours and maintain our minimum GPA to be eligible. I would guess the classwork he needs may directly affect one of those standards. You pull him when their could be a question and give him a chance.
