NIT bracket is insane. It is a mid-major wet dream. Almost no P5 schools. 3 Big West schools? LOL. No disrespect but that's funny. I think there's more Big West schools than P5 teams

Yeah, they are gonna be changing the criteria for the NIT. No way they allow this to happen again.

We get to host and Fla Atl is hosting Dayton though they are the lower seed. Quite interesting. Also, Jax St on the road in round 1. I kinda like it 🤷‍♂️.
Dayton getting sent on the road is not interesting. For as far back as I can remember, Dayton ALWAYS host 2 NCAA games on both Tuesday and Wednesday night. Thus the reason they are traveling to FAU.

The reason there aren’t any P5 schools is they all declined. SEC and Big 10 are guaranteed 4 bids and they didn’t take them.
I’d almost guarantee the conference commissioners gave marching orders to teams to turn down bids to try and pressure NCAA expansion.

They don’t want to be embarrassed and give other conferences ammo to say the SEC and Big Ten don’t deserve all these NCAA bids. They know LSU would get curb stomped by Dayton, UC Irvine, etc.

I love the new NIT format. But as for the NCAAs, that committee made some crazy decisions. UNC anyone?

14 of 16 SEC teams made the NCAAs and several I have a feeling (and hope) will be one and done. The two that didn't and turned down the NIT had good metrics but both had losing records. No team with a losing record should get in a post season tourney. It's part of why I hate all CUSA teams making it to Huntsville.

While I don't want the NCAAs to expand, at least if Yormark has his way it will be as play-in games and not straight seeding.

I also think same as CFP, there are enough metrics out there now that the human element should be 100% completely removed.

Food for thought....

I listened to him on the radio talking about the selection process. He was not involved in the discussions regarding UNC. Every member of the committee is removed from the room when they are discussing teams associated with them. On the radio, Keith Gill the SBC commissioner said they were down to the AAC championship being the deciding factor. If Memphis lost that game UNC would have been pushed out.

Edited to add an article:

I'm not saying I'm Mr Conspiracy on this, not saying I'm not either.
But all I ask is be consistent. His reasons for including UNC and not WVU are literally the exact same for including WVU and not UNC. You can throw Texas in there too.
Just be consistent across the board regardless of brand. That's all any of us want for NCAA, NIT, WBIT, any of them.

This screams just schedule a bunch of Q1 games. You lose them, oh well. You played them so you get in. Same as the CFP. Get that SOS high, but it's ok if you lose. Makes zero sense and any fan shouldn't be happy.

Conspiracy or not, the optics do not look good at all.

The conspiracy has been tossed out several columnists already.
