UNIVERSITY NEWS MT closer to having new law degree

It’s worth pointing out this is not a law degree that someone could use to become an attorney. It’s to get a better understanding of laws. Would really benefit positions like a contract manager for a company.

Personally, I wouldn’t pay for it. An undergrad Business Law class like the one I took in the late 70’s at Tiger High served the same purpose. That, and my Labor Law class I took at MTSU in grad school towards my MBA. Most large companies (like HCA) have in-house legal counsel on staff for these matters.

I don’t disagree, I was just pointing it out. I will say our Contracts Manager does not have a JD. Our company uses third party counsel for those issues. It would be something that I could see our company hiring someone with this degree for that job. At the end of the day it’s another masters degree but one that really doesn’t move the needle like a true professional degree offering would.

I have always wondered why they have not merged with Nashville School of Law and brought them on campus or stay where they are at and attach the MTSU name to it.

That's seems like the only way we would ever get one.

Yeah I’m not sure why that hasn’t happened. I think NSL has had accreditation issues too. It seems like it would be a win-win for both sides.
