All season the mid-week games have featured numerous Vol pitchers as head coach Dave Serrano looks to get guys work and innings.
The Blue Raiders come to Knoxville with a 12-12 record but took last seasons’ match-up with the Vols 7-5. Over the last 10 games in the series, MTSU leads 7-3. However, Tennessee leads the overall series 33-23.
The starters will be Eric Freeman for the Vols and Sam Alton for MTSU. Freeman has a 1-1 record with a 3.51 ERA. Alton is 2-1 with an ERA of 6.16.
Brad Jarreau and Riley Delgado have led MTSU offensively this season. Jarreau has 3 home runs and 12 RBI while Delgado is batting .393 with six doubles and eight RBI. Delgado has 15 walks to just six strikeouts. Jarreau likewise has been tough to strikeout, only striking out seven times through 24 games.
The pitching which has been a big focus for the Vols all season will need to handle Jarreau and Delgado and make other MTSU batters do damage.....

Middle Tennessee loses 9-2. Now under .500, 12-13, and on a 4 game losing streak with Rice coming into town this weekend.
